the Emperor
Author is a three-headed Emperor that lives in the depths of the forest, beyond the Bolthole, invisible to all eyes but the Beasts' and Willow's.
Its three heads constantly argue about everything under the sun (and some things that aren't). Its Left and Right heads have one eye each (Light and Wind respectively), and completely opposing personalities. Center head is eyeless (formerly had Earth eyes), and is the mediator or instigator of arguments, depending on the day. Left's extroversion and compassion regularly irritate angry and cynical Right, with Center's general nervousness and logical thinking really rounding out the full personality of the Author.

Author's body is stuck legs-deep into the ground, and seems to be made of a cloud (or maybe a tree-- despite being an Emperor, it's not very dragonlike) of innumerable mirror shards, constantly shifting, blinking, and changing color. If it's looked at too long, the mirror shards start creeping toward the onlooker, almost seeming to want to pull them in...
The Beasts and Willow tend to stay far away from where Author is embedded into the ground. It's in a small grove just inside the forest, near the ocean. Its legs are less leglike, and more like roots, tendrils of Author's influence affecting every aspect of the Sanctuary. Willow has found mirror-shard tendrils beneath the Clan and between the walls of the underground portion, which oddly help keep the tunnels from collapsing. Examples of Author's influence are all over the Clan, from the slight shimmery air when storms circumnavigate the airspace to magically appearing, strangely reflective housing when new members come to stay.
The full limits of Author's roots have not been found yet; whenever a Beast digs a hole to test its limit, they've found more root-tendrils. The Author-seers haven't found the outer limit of Author's reach, which is mildly concerning. Either Author has spread over all of Sornieth, or the Beasts and Willow are inadvertently spreading the tendrils wherever they go.
Not an especially comforting thought, that.

also, yes, this emperor is basically my dragonsona. i thought it would be fun to make this guy an in-universe representation of the author's hand in my lil dragon world.
