Why, hello there! Welcome to the Clan of the Grinding Ice! As you know, the Southern Icefields can be a harsh and unwelcoming place, so do sit down and make yourself comfortable. Would you care for a spot of tea?

I am Jon's mate, and the clan greeter. I provide guests with basic information and serve as a directory for further information.


Long ago, there was a dragon born to the Southern Icefields named Tyranus, and when resources in his clan of origin grew scarce, he decided to set off on his own, so there would be one less mouth to feed. His journey across the ice was perilous, but even greater than the threat of hypothermia or starvation was the threat of madness in his isolation.

Then he found another dragon floating on an iceberg. Severin had been sickly and in an attempt to summon Tidelord, he had been taken by a group of dragons and sacrificed, seen as expendable. But he had been spared by climbing onto the drifting iceberg. Severin and Tyranus wandered together, bonded through one test of survival after another, and eventually became mates.

At last they came to a milder area of the Icefields, where they were welcomed by Longnecks and Raptoriks showing hospitality, and then a strange magic began to awaken in them both. They were brought to the Frozen Sanctum for testing, and then, training. They were given a mission: to found a training center for others to harness the power of the ley lines, as they had.

The training center is one of Sornieth's best hopes, for battle-mages to be empowered and hunt the minions of the Shade, increasingly encroaching upon the world. Dragons and Beastclans come from far and wide for training - even if they do not succeed, they know they will be remembered as valiant warriors. We also maintain a jail for evil mages, which holds a very famous prisoner, the foul Sauron - while the Fortress of Ends is suitable for most prisoners, corrupted mages are a special case, and it takes the power of the ley lines to properly hold them.

Even though the Clan has a reputation for being fierce fighters, we nonetheless try to offer hospitality and help to dragons and Beastclans passing through our territory. We have an inn if visiting for a few days or weeks should be of interest to you - one of the innkeepers would be happy to make accomodations. If you'd like to learn more about the clan, and perhaps relax whilst you do so with a soft, fluffy friend, Jon and I have seven cats you are welcome to play with.
