The Heart in the Darkest Dream

He strides through regal graves,
cold, weary claws shackled in his heart's tears.
Into the depths, light extinguished,
sleep his thoughts, scream his fears.

Lying still, lying in silence,
he drags his heart to his claws' tongue.
Express that writhing test, never to rest
until at last his cloak like head has hung.

To the blissful sky, to the livid stone,
no one not he can be,
anguished with dream sunk in bone,
to you he'll hear no plea.

Take not his sight, nor cloak of majesty of night.
Tired are his jaws, speechless weary eyes,
shut like death which selects to embrace,
each of us, until kissed last from fright.

The heart in the darkest dream,
plucked from the the twisted tree,
torn and worn,
in love and scorn,
belonged indeed to only he.
