Rafflesia
Clan Leader Reckless | Loyal | Confident |
|
Introduction
Rafflesia is the main clan leader, he is most known for his loyalty to his mate and his confidence in appearing to be the most threatening dragon in the clan by fighting anything, being reckless about his own safety. When first meeting him, he seems to be a bit brutish, but once he warms up to you as a clan member or ally he is very welcoming, offering you help if ever needed. Those who are greatly close to him will often be treated as his own blood.

History
When he hatched he only had his mother and siblings, he was the last to hatch and was the smallest out of his siblings. He was a bit of a clumsy, trouble-causing hatchling, he tripped over his own legs and often got into fights with hatchlings who made fun of his small size. A day in the life of this little boy was never dull. His mother taught him all he needed to know, hunting tactics, traps, anything that could aid in survival within the harsh lands. While he was the smallest as a young hatchling, once he grew to his full size his strength and agility was impressive for a rambunctious runt like him. He and his siblings flew the nest, going their own directions as the start of their lives had begun. It was time for them to test their strengths.
He had been in a few packs already after his first month, sometimes he’d run into his siblings that had grouped with one of the same mirror packs, but it was only a short time before they split off on their own again. His body began to mutate as he grew older, his skin becoming leathery, spikes and teeth emerging from his back, arms, and legs, and pores in his body would release a disgusting smell of decay, while it was painful he saw it as a sign that his body was growing stronger with each passing day. He had a few fights with other dragons here and there, resulting in the scars that cover his body. He took pride in his appearance, as any possible opponents would often gag at the sight of him and flee before the fight had begun. When fights did go through, he’d fight tooth and claw, he had become numb to the feeling of pain, might as well fight until the loser’s blood soaks into the ground. He joined another pack of mirrors in the late summer, the pack planned on hunting bigger game instead of going after the small weak creatures. With their strength combined they thought it would be easy to take something bigger than what they usually hunt down. Sadly they were gravely mistaken, they had to retreat, a few mirrors had lost their lives and his back leg was injured during the hunt. The pack later settled down for the night, and all he could think about was what he could possibly do about his leg. There were a few smart mirrors in the pack, perhaps he could ask them in the morning what could be done. But when the bright sun woke him up, his pack had already left him far behind. Things had become more difficult for him, his injury made hunting harder for him, he was slow and couldn’t catch proper meals most days. Despite it all, he did his best to survive on his own, no pack would take him in due to his injury so all he had was himself. He nearly lost his life trying to run away from threats, and his leg soon started to cause more problems as time went on. Eventually, the pain became unbearable, every step on the injured leg was terrible. He was tired and hungry, he collapsed to the hard ground of the Boneyard out of exhaustion. The bright sun once again woke him in the morning, he tried to stand up, but the moment he moved his back leg shot up painful spikes up his body, forcing him back down. He tried a few more times to stand up, each time trying to be more careful, before finally accepting that it wouldn’t work. |
He laid there for what felt like weeks, he watched the sun set and the moon rise, the moon set and the sun rise. He accepted that this was the end for him, he knew he wouldn't get to stand up ever again, all he could do now was wait for death to take him. He wished for his siblings to live on strongly before closing his eyes. Something caught his attention however, he heard the sound of wings flying above him. He figured it was vultures getting ready to eat him until the sounds became louder, and eventually heard something large land on the ground in front of him. The closer the footsteps of the large thing got the more he grew scared. In that moment he decided that if he was gonna die, he might as well get in one last fight. Once the thing was close enough he sprung up and attempted to clench his jaws on whatever he could get, the figure moved back just in time to avoid his bite and he got a good look at what he was dealing with. Standing in front of him was a Guardian dragon, he hissed at the dragon attempting to intimidate them, but the Guardian didn’t budge at his attempts. He clawed the air towards the Guardian, trying to get a reaction, but the guardian just stood there staring at him. He soon felt fear beginning to rise in his chest, no matter how hard he tried it was clear that he was scared for once in his life. The Guardian didn’t attack, it didn’t even move, all it did was stare him down. The Guardian’s eyes widened suddenly, and let out a deep breath. The Guardian approached him, before he could get a hit at the dragon it picked him up in it’s jaws and flew to the air. He looked down and saw the Boneyard from a height a mirror would never be able to fly, he didn’t know what awaited him once the Guardian landed, all he hoped was his death to be quick. The Guardian took him to what seemed to be It’s den. It set him in a bedded spot and started rummaging through a bag that he didn’t even notice until now. The Guardian walked around the den for a bit, he watched as it seemed to be crafting something. The Guardian returned to him shortly after, it got a little too close for comfort and He went to strike at the Guardian. The Guardian held him down with it’s paw so that he was unable to move, he felt the Guardian doing something to his leg and began to squirm, but the deep growls of the Guardian quickly made him stop in fear of what would happen if he didn’t. The Guardian moved back and He looked down at his leg to see that it had been patched up with a splint. He looked up at the Guardian, there was no danger with this dragon, there was only a chance of a longer life to live. He spent months with her, after the splint broke she helped amputate his leg and made a makeshift prosthetic for him to walk on. He was able to hunt again like he used to, as of thanks he taught her things that would aid her in survival. The two grew close and soon enough his friend could be something more to him. They soon were expecting their first hatchling, it was only one egg but he swore to protect it with his life. The culture where she came from was different from his, while he didn’t quite understand it, he found it interesting enough to learn about it and even allow her to give him a name. Mirrors do not receive names like those from clans and such, they see it as pointless, he did too but he accepted it to bond with her more. She gave him the name Rafflesia, she gave herself the name Merulius and their hatchling was named Amanita. He and his mate soon decided to start a clan together, with her knowledge he could possibly turn out to be a decent leader. While he still didn’t understand too much, one thing was for sure, the bonds he strengthened with the members of the clan were much like as if they were family to him. And if any threat ever threatened his clan, he’d fight tooth and claw to keep his new family safe, even if it meant he’d lose his life. To him, it would be worth dying for. |
