The Hunter
Throw caution to the wind. A shooting star... Fortune has been tasked with investigating the extent of the Arcane warp's spread through Cindercone's greater territory, including checking in with the beastclans in the area to see if they're in need of aid—always a good way to cultivate allies. He has set to the task with grim purpose. * Fortune is fascinated by what Tarandrus has returned with. The new ancients interest him in a way he's hard-pressed to explain. * With the coming of Greenskeeper Gathering, Fortune has been released to vanish off into the deep woods in search of game, flatleaves, and other valuables. |

Fortune is a hunter and forager who takes long expeditions deep into the scorched forests of the bordlerands in search of game and valuable pelts. His hunting expeditions see him stalking game from the Tangled Wood to Bamboo Falls, or from the rich ashen soils of Fire across the parched scrub of the Shifting Expanse to the broadleaf forests of Light. He is also an enthusiastic if undisciplined raider, and when back at camp, a bit of a gambler and sometime fortune teller. A grim, easily riled dragon, Fortune does not hold many friends among the clan, though he is softening: the informality of the borderlands was been good for him. He has a strange antipathy with Henhowl, though he has no coherent answer as to why, and it seems he often times his expeditions and returns so as to not be in the same place with him. One of the dragons injured in the crossing from Fire to Lightning, Fortune bears his scars with a certain uneasiness. Stranger than the lightning-scars is the touch of winter in him—the horn of his antlers and scutes is frigid to the touch, as if he were an Ice dragon. If he is like Laenalaerr, the sickness within him is nowhere near done with him—and if he is not, then what is he? Physical description Fortune is a somewhat small imperial with short, broad wings. Lightning scars run in jagged lines from nose to tail. Frost rims his antlers and belly scutes. He smells like cold air tinged with snow. He is capable of moving overland with surprising stealth for such a large and colorful dragon, but is a clumsy flier. While a competent swimmer, like many Wind dragons he has a dislike of water. Combat Fortune is a skilled fighter, relying on tooth and claw to bring down his opponent. He is surprisingly fast and agile for his size, and almost always fights alongside Winewings and Ithiliisahn. |

Origin Fortune came to Cindercone from Northslope, seeking purpose and an escape from the disorganized Ice clan, having left his hatching-clan to do the same some time before. While he has yet to find a greater purpose, he has seemed reluctant to move on. During the Crossing, Fortune was struck by electric discharge from the Lightning Farm, leaving him with a jagged track of lightning-scars, and presumably triggering his other changes. |

Kin Fortune is the son of an imperial father from a Nature clan and a wildclaw mother from Arcane. He is nearly a straight mix of imperial and wildclaw, with a dash of various plentifuls. He knows little of his ancestry and has no particular wish to. |

This strange creature leads a small band of serthis-faced cats in the border forests, and has been shadowing Fortune. He has bonded with them in hopes of making them a friend instead of a foe.
