Sylva

GROVE GUARDIAN

Sylva is a dragon primarily in the figurative sense. The dragon is the vessel through which it speaks, but it is far from the only part of it. Sylva is the garden. The gnarled roots, the flowering boughs, the blooming foliage. The mud in the pond and the algae on the rocks. They all speak to each other, to themselves, through the massive interconnected web which all living systems are comprised of. At the centre of that mass is the dragon, the mouthpiece, the seeing eyes.

Sylva does not speak often. It keeps to itself, lumbering through the greenery and hunting the things that move about within it. It will tolerate most conversation, though it tends to answer very briefly and curtly. It does not make jokes and has little interest in smalltalk. It can sometimes be persuaded to talk about things that it has recently seen, or heard, or eaten, though.

Though it diligently plucks and eats the likes of anything that doesn't belong in its grove, it is quite gentle and protective of things that do. Birds, insects, and even some small mammals often hide in its mass of shaggy fur. It doesn't mind, and treads carefully on their behalf.

It is of some note that it refers to itself as plural 'we' as opposed to singular 'I'.
