Marisol

From when she hatched, starry-eyed and black-taloned, she saw the future in the fractals and endless spiral of shadow, the arcane in the shaded, the mystical in the dark. The mages' academy took her on, but she spiralled toward darkness, and quickly earned her Halo. The magical arts were hers to command, and she Saw, oh she Saw, all the futures spiralling around her. She could not always understand, of course, nor did they always listen, but she could See. She could See it all.
Through half-lidded eyes, the adolescent she-dragon gazed at the sky, half-asleep, wallowing deeply in the otherworld that was that downy place between wakefulness and rest. She did not mind, per se, the fact she lay awake, beside her sleeping hatchmates, though her tail flicked slightly with annoyance at the den's stone overhang obscuring her view of the sky. Carefully, she crept from the nest, making her way across the cold granite outcropping until she could tilt her head up and gaze uninhibited at the sky. It was breathtaking, the view, each star glittering so far, distant diamonds scattered across the velvet ceiling of the sky. The clouds began to swirl, faster and faster above her, gentle violent in the midnight moonlight. Her talons begin to shake as she spread her wings, opened her eyes, and Looked, for the first time in her life. Timelines tumbling, cascading like a river over the tangled bed of reality and the fabric of the universe. So far, though it seemed so close, close enough that she could run a claw across it if she reached out. Then, as abruptly as it began, it was over.
