Biography

plácido bonesong

|| Background
It's an unfortunate story that happens time and time again, but Plácido was hatched into a very unhappy home. His father was a monster in a dragon's skin, his mother not much better; their clan was small not for lack of dragons but for lack of care. The young Plácido, as the oldest of his nest, was forced to care for his two younger siblings while his parents quarreled with each other, and most of all, with their son. It only got worse as he got older and showed an aptitude for music, something both of his parents saw as utterly frivolous.

It could never truly last. Having pushed his children too far, Plácido's younger brother, almost an adult, snapped and attacked their father. The resulting fight left both father and son dead, and seeing her mate gone, Plácido's mother screamed the two remaining children away with threats of violence. Deeply shaken by what had occurred, Plácido led his youngest sister to somewhere he hoped she would be safe, and set out alone, wanting to forget every trace of his childhood and past.

Now free to do whatever he wanted, Plácido decided to finally pursue his dream of becoming a bard. He fashioned a lute out of bones and wandered from clan to clan, playing for treasure. He wasn't good at first, but he got better quickly— and it turned out that even in the Scarred Wasteland, dragons wanted a song. But it wasn't until he happened to cross paths with Matriarch Aldith that Plácido really found a home. He fell in love with her on sight, and to his surprise, when he serenaded her in an attempt to win her heart, she responded.

|| Current
Now a happy Egg-Bearer to a wife who loves him, Plácido finally feels like he has somewhere to be. He provides little to the Children besides offspring and song, but he makes his wife happy, and really, that's what makes him happy nowadays too. Amongst the Children, no one argues and spits, and even the other Egg-Bearers are kind to him when he doesn't get on their nerves too much.

It's a true relief, after wandering with a wound in his heart for so long, to find somewhere that he can just be himself. And until the Bone Spire stops feeling like that place, Plácido is overjoyed to stay, playing to the Offspring and to his new family and simply letting himself be.

|| Notes
◈ In his spare time, Plácido also writes poetry, sometimes to tunes from his lute.
◈ He is the youngest of the Egg-Bearers, and is in his early forties.
◈ Though they don't get along, Plácido is the closest of the Egg-Bearers to Jarek— at least in the sense that he spends the most time with him.
◈ During his wandering days, Plácido become somewhat well-known for his performances in the Hellwell Undercroft during inter-clan meetups. He was never properly famous, but is recognized every so often by a more devoted fan.
◈ Out of all the Egg-Bearers, Plácido is the one who makes a point to be closest to his children, and often visits them to sing and share stories with them. His offspring tend to have a habit of humming or singing themselves due to this.
◈ Plácido met Maestro during one of his performances in the Hellwell Undercroft, and the two bonded over their shared love of performance. Maestro makes a point to visit him when their flock circles over the Scarred Wasteland, and Plácido always welcomes them with open wings.
