Windward
The Explorer of the Wandering Trio  Generation 1 |

Windward is an active and determined dragon, one who never gives up and one who is ready to face any challenge that comes her way. She takes after her father, Thayn, more than her mother, determined to explore the land of Sornieth. She's part of the Wandering Trio, a group of dragons who wander the world, exploring and helping those in need. She is the group's guide and cartographer, mapping the land of Sornieth and guiding the group through it. She is also a part of an Anti-hive resistance group known as Maelstrom, and, along with the rest of the trio, is tasked to scout the land of Sornieth for hives.
Windward was born in the Windswept Plateau, specifically, in the Cloudsong. She is the daughter of Mariya and Thayn, and is part of a lineage known as the 'Explorers of the Sky', a lineage that was made to explore all of Sornieth, to see all the sights and to find treasures along the way. And that was what Windward wanted to do for the longest time, she grew up exploring with her parents, travelling around the world, and frankly, she enjoyed it greatly. She loved to explore, she found it fun, while also being determined to help the Windsinger and her parents explore.
When she was a young adult one day, she decided to go around and explore near the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The sun was starting to set and it was a nice. Very little dragons were present around the area for a multitude of reasons. Wind ward did not think much of this, unassuming of her vulnerability. After a while, a tornado, slowly but surely, started forming in the area. Windward, as an explorer of the sky, had large endurance to such events, being able to traverse through storms and such much better than most dragons. But this particular tornado was quite large and powerful. Luckily though, she had already been to the Twisting Cresendo, and being an Explorer of the Sky, and she made it through, so she assumed that the tornado would be only a small problem. When the tornado hit it was much stronger than Windward had anticipated, but luckily she made it through without much effort.
But she let her guard down. She thought that problems had ended for the time being. She was wrong. Not long after, she was attacked by a few drones that were in the area. They ambushed her charging at her from the dark corners in which they hid. They tore at her body, their claws tearing at her and their teeth sinking into her. In panic Windward managed to get them off of her and take off into the sky, her wings somehow mostly undamaged.
She didn't get very far until she was hit, hit with a sticky black substance that she would come to know as building fluid. Normally, she would still be able to escape, however it hit one of her wings.. She knew that they were chasing her but this was unexpected, she didn't expect to be hit with such an odd thing. As she lost stability and balance, the fell and plunged into the cold waters below, straight into the Sea of a Thousand Currents.
She didn't see nor remember much of what happened after, as her tired and injured body and the waters of the ocean blurred her vision and clouded her focus. But she remembered the pitch black drones plunging into the water after her, as they swam closer and closer to her, but then she another figure, black like the drones she had been chased by. But this other figure wasn't chasing her, it swam up to one of the drones, and then she saw blood, spilling out, clouding her vision, tainting the water around her in red, as the mysterious figure seemed to attack the drones that were chasing her. But it wasn't her blood. And then she blacked out.
Windward awoke in an infirmary, the room was well-lit and the walls were clean and white. She was laying on a soft bed, the sheets clean and comfortable, as if they were calling her to come back to sleep as she got up. In the room was a white pearlcatcher, she was reading a book, seemingly deep in focus and thought, she also carried many bags, all seemingly filled with something Windward couldn't see. After a while of silence as Windward was looking around the room from her bed, she finally called out to the pearlcatcher, seemingly taking her by surprise.
The pearlcatcher finally noticed that Windward was awake and set her book down on the table beside her. She walked over to Windward and introduced herself. She said her name was Dennys and that she was a healer/medic. Windward did the same and introduced herself as well. As time went on Windward asked more questions, and it seemed that the more things Dennys told her the more questions Windward had. Dennys ended up explaining about Maelstrom, the hivemind, and anything related, as Windward grew more curious the more Dennys told her.
Fortunately for Dennys eventually Windward ran out of questions and the conversation died down. Dennys asked Windward if she wanted to go back to her home and her parents, and whether she wanted to be escorted there as she seemed healthy enough to go. Windward did want to go back but she always strived for independence. She always wanted to go and explore the world on her own, and perhaps find a new clan to live in. As she thought about what Dennys had told her about Maelstrom and the hivemind, she made her decision. She told Dennys that she wanted to part from her parents and old clan and find a new place to stay. She asked if perhaps she could stay in Maelstrom HQ and help out. She said that the hivemind endangers a lot of dragons and she wants to help and protect others as well. Dennys was taken aback by the request at first but hen she smiled and said yes. But she said she'd have to ask the director first before joining, but was sure that she would be accepted.
Eventually she was accepted and she was taken in with open arms. She was trained to fight so that she could defend herself and others in case of an attack. They told her everything she needed about the hivemind; they told her its weaknesses and its tricks, and of its defects and castes. The more she learned the more she realized how dangerous Sornieth really was for both beastclans and dragons alike, and that perhaps dragons weren't always as they first seemed and trusting them wasn't something she do so easily anymore.
Within her time at Maelstrom though she did find some good. Most of the dragons there were kind, and while some were more rude they had good intentions. There she also met two dragons that she would grow very close to: Rajaveth and Whirlpool. They'd train and go on adventures together in time they would together make a group consisting of the three of them called the Wandering Trio, made to scout the land of Sornieth for hives, as well as protect and any dragons in need.
