Empire of Death: Order of Bone

Kami was born into a hard life to two pearlcatcher parents. Plague was an unforgiving place and with three other siblings, survival wasn't always easy. Despite being a hatchling, she had to learn to grow up fast in order to defend herself and help find food. Outsiders like her father might've found searching for non-toxic plants difficult but he'd learned from her mother long before Kami was born and now both of them were teaching Kami and her siblings. The growing hatchling was fond of her family and found the territory they stuck to fun to explore! Sometimes they'd come across other dragons that shared the stretch of territory with them. While not all of them were willing to stop and chat, others were quite friendly.
Everything felt new and fun to a hatchling. Despite the harsh conditions Kami never went hungry, nor did her brothers and sisters. However, one day her sister Vrej wandered too far from where they'd made camp for the day. Kami remembers her parents searching day and night for her sister only to come back the next day exhausted and empty clawed. They'd moved on without looking back—this wasn't their first nest and it wasn't going to be their first lost hatchling or the last. It was the first time Kami experienced loss however and the young dragon quickly came to learn this was how life could be in Plague. Her parents assured her that if Vrej was a true Plague dragon that she'd find a way to survive without them, but they couldn't keep wasting time to look lest they meet a more decided fate. |

As they were traveling near the border with Nature, Kami would see her brother Zaer perish. He'd been overly confident when picking a fight and paid the price while she'd fled to get help. By the time she and her remaining brother had returned the battle had been decided. The plants that encased Zaer had been much more powerful than the Plague magic he possessed could fend off, even if it should've been strong against it. Kami said a farewell and moved on but her brother Ashnard had different plans. In the end, she said goodbye to him as well, watching as he made his way toward Earth to find a safer life there. She wished him the best and went to tell her parents the news. Grown and being the last of her nest still with her parents, Kami didn't stick around much longer. It was more than time to find her own way in life. Her parents were already preparing to hatch new siblings soon as it was. She left them and her yet to hatch siblings to find her own place in Plague. For a while she took up scavenging, as it had been profitable to trade her finding for other things needed. Eventually she came across an imperial named Thanatos and the two began traveling together. He had trained as a guard and was searching for a more permanent home, something Kami wasn't opposed to finding either. The pair eventually found and joined the Order of Bone within the Empire of Death. While her mate was given a high rank of Lucifi's royal guard, Kami stuck to her talents and continues to act as a scavenger. She enjoys searching the lands for items the merchants can turn into sellable goods or sell outright. Kami has even collected a few interesting trinkets here and there. |
