Introduction



The Veilspun was the third ancient breed to be released on the game Flight Rising, preceded by Gaolers and Banescales. They originate from the Shadow domain, and are based off insects.

Several months before the release of the Veilspun in March 2020, there was a developer stream¹ talking about the third ancient breed; information revealed then showed that the new ancient would be obtainable from the Gem Marketplace, originating from a place that was not represented by multiple dragon breeds.

Day 1 - November 12, 2020



After an extended downtime period for maintenance, the Veilspun breed was released at around 10:00 AM server time. People began hyping over them as soon as they could. The influx of players caused massive lag, and given the pricing of Veilspun scrolls, the Veilspun themselves were selling at one million treasure or higher per on the auction house. The wealthier players swiped scrolls off the Marketplace, transformed and gened their dragons, bred them, and sold their offspring for gems. The devs didn’t release any eggs or scrolls with Galore, which resulted in chaos, with players pointing out how it was a poor choice and others telling them to collect the money for the scrolls themselves. It was chaos. Pure, unfiltered chaos.

A user, kyrin18, made a post¹ pointing out what appeared to be a glitch: for all three Veilspun poses, the Abyss Shell/Web genes appears to be missing color layers. Many, many players commented on the “Abyss glitch,” as the writer of this account would say. Most believe it is a glitch, given the lack of coloration in the mane; a developer commented, saying the staff were looking into it.

The writer of this account, after scrolling through the thread and replying several times, decided to start a suggestion thread² asking for the Abyss glitch to be kept as a feature on the dragons; after several hours and multiple replies providing feedback, the developers announced that the Shell/Web was not a problem in a cryptical manner: “These [genes] were fine.”³ It is as of yet unknown whether the Abyss glitch was intentional or was kept after the developers saw the suggestion thread. Strange whispers have been flying around... Players have noted that the prices for various items on the AH have dropped. Some speculate that players are selling their things cheap to afford the new breed.¹ There’s a lore rumor that the Imperials’ design was virtually copy-pasted from the Veilspun, given the similarity of their designs. ²

There have also been some so-called “cursed” threads, where some users decide to share a cringey concept with the community. ^3,4

The author had been grinding in the Blooming Wood for Preserved Petals and Flax Fibers to sell on the Auction House; she did not participate in myriad forum activities that day.

Nothing too eventful happened today. The author tried to flip some G1s for profit and grinded in the Blooming Wood. She noted that Veilspun scries were popular.
