Biography

The Star Stair forms where the Starwood's light settles on the ocean. Sometimes it branches in many directions like lightning, sometimes it spirals and grows portals to get lost in. Swimming, the Star Stair descends into the deep ocean depths. The destination is the same.
The Shardstorm is a magical vortex off the coast of the Starwood Strand. Its perilous zephyrs are filled with falling glass and crystal. Positioned half-within and half-without Sornieth's atmosphere, the massive biomes of the Pulling House lair are tethered by magic to the surface world.

Because Grief Poets travel it most often, their songs explain: the Star Stair is the manifestation of Sornieth's continued hold on the Pulling House.

When the three inner planets enter conjunction over the Starwood, the Tintalle bursts its banks. Magic overflows, causes chaos. At these times the flickering, failing light of the sapped Star Stair shines strong again, and the Shardstorm is repelled all around by a magical barrier: some say the true design of the Star Stair is revealed at this time.

Conjunction is the only time when the smallest, most frail and fragile flier could be easily accommodated through the Shardstorm up to the Pulling House.

Dragons can amplify Tintalle magic to bolster the strength of the Star Stair, or they can use Tintalle magic to sap the stair's energy. Sapped energy can be captured and made use of in fueling other kinds of magic.

If too much magic is diverted from the Tintalle, the residents of the Pulling House risk breaking the stair and surrendering its travelers to pain and defeat by the Shardstorm.

The Grief Poets spread the word to the dragons below the Shardstorm: the Star Stair is the only safe way to navigate the unrelenting vortex filled with cursed arrows of crystalized moonlight. Young hatchlings can seek help from Grief Poets, or from two elder mages known as Pass and Gran, to navigate the Star Stair and enter the Pulling House.

The Coalition of the Far Stars refuses to contribute further research to the study of the Star Stair.

Domain is officially responsible for opening the Star Stair with the help/use of the Tintalle. As in, they store the manuals. No one has had to siphon confluence magic through the Tintalle to the Star Stair in... in a really, really long time. It is unclear to many outside Domain how the Tintalle's magic is influenced by the solar system's three inner planets.

Custom Location: The location of the Shardstorm, over the sea between the Starwood Strand and the Windswept Plateau. It is a storm more than three thousand times smaller than the more southerly Twisting Crescendo.
