Biography
Ohm was the son of a very strict father with unreasonable expectations. His childhood was filled with textbooks, research articles, and a looping fear of failure. He was often ridiculed and scorned if he slipped up or made even a single mistake. But because of his upbringing, he grew to be quite intelligent for someone so young. Eventually he earned the honor of being exalted to the Stormcatcher, where he was able to pursue his own interests.
As he helped conduct research within the Tempest Spire, he gradually carved out a name for himself as quite the intellectual, though he became well known as the arrogant and pompous pedant. Because of his background, he saw himself as far more intelligent than most of his colleagues simply because he knew more at a younger age than most of them combined. He had developed a superiority complex to mask his atychiphobia and insecurities from his childhood.
Despite his condescending attitude, though, he had a curiousity and fascination for the diverse, innate magic within everyone. Numerous interns from all the elements found their way to the Tempest Spire with the Boss and Ohm was determined to research the potential it held. Eventually he found himself stationed at a facility that was developing and testing a variety of concoctions meant to harness the abilities of a given element. He was placed on the team working on a sort of steroid meant to hone the foreseeing and predictive capabilities of the Water element. Many prior experiments had failed on the preliminary tests with mice simply because the mixture could not integrate with the host. But recent studies had shown that incorporating a bizarre black substance into the mixture as a delivery agent greatly amplified the absorption of the liquefied element into the host's tissues. If it works it's worth a shot for science, right?
After many mostly successful trials on mice, the team had decided to move onto higher animals: dragons. After kidnapping an orphaned Wind dragon, the trials began. Ohm himself had warned his colleagues to be cautious though, due to some of the unfavorable side effects from some of the previous studies including high levels of aggression. But after numerous days of questionable results, all hell broke loose. The subject had escaped and slaughtered nearly everyone in that section of the compound before fleeing. Ohm somehow managed to avoid such a fate and cursed his deceased coworkers for their incompetence. He had warned them and it was their fault for going ahead with an imperfect experiment.
Over the years, Ohm rose through the ranks and gained enough prestige and funding to begin independent research with fellow researchers of his own choosing and who shared his interests. He and his handpicked crew continued the questionable experimentation, often venturing to other regions for test subjects of various elements. Many of the outcomes from some of these experiments others would see as catastrophic. But in Ohm's eyes they were quite successful, even if it ended up with quite a few monstrosities being set loose. The results were fascinating.
