Electrician | Tinkerer

The one that didn't belong, Hughes was a Fae born amongst Snappers. It's unknown exactly how this happened. His egg wasn't found, they didn't know he was different until the eggs hatched and he was a dwarf in comparison to his brothers and sisters. A changeling. Despite being so different from his family, they still loved and cared for him, carrying him along their ancestral routes when he struggled to keep up. Occasionally, the small clan would pass by various other lairs where Hughes would request any spare parts or broken appliances they may have lying around. Whenever the clan stopped to rest, or the rare occasion the clan spent a few days molting, Hughes would tinker with the parts he had acquired, slowly putting together...something big. His father would carry the thing along in a cart behind him while they were travelling, and Hughes would work on what he could while the clan was on the move. It took quite a while for him to finally finish it, but the final product turned out to be a robotic Snapper that he could pilot. Finally able to fit in, Hughes proudly joined his clan, taking his first steps along the looping trails.

However, the clan started to slowly disperse as different members broke off to join different clans. Eventually Hughes' father and him were the only two left, but his father fell in love with a Spiral from a clan among the Tsunami Flats. Though Hughes was still loved by his new stepmother, Hughes felt he didn't belong near the water, as his machine would break down if too much water got into the circuitry. Once they moved into the Sea, Hughes had to wave goodbye to his family. Travelling alone, Hughes eventually came across the Lightning Farm of the Shifting Expanse. With a little bit of updated tech, the Snap-bot became more versatile, insulated and now outfitted with robotic arms that extend from the mouth, Hughes was very efficient at his new job within the Lighting Farm of repairing and installing new wiring that channels the electricity generated overhead.

After many years of service, Hughes was eventually replaced by remote controlled golems though, as they caused fewer incident reports and didn't require a salary. But just as Hughes was on his way out of the employment facility to head off in his mech, he bumped into a stern Skydancer by accident. Knocked out of his depressed state, he looked up at the larger dragon, who inquired why he seemed so down. After everything was explained, the Skydancer's face suddenly seemed relieved, as he had come here to find someone with Hughes' particular expertise. Happy to give him a new job, the Skydancer promptly introduced himself as Wragix and they continued to chat as Hughes retrieved his mech and they found a teleportation terminal to port back to what was now home. Fortunately for Hughes, there's plenty of wiring around the lair to fix. Clearly nobody knew what they were doing before he arrived.
