.....Dis came to the Owlcat Pup clan in the same way as many - he was bought as a hatchling as future breeding stock. At first he was a typical hatchling, talkative and playful. Gradually, however, he became more and more reserved. By the time he reached breeding age, he was one of the quietest dragons in the clan.

.....He accepted his assigned mate, Persephone VII, without complaint, and she him, but soon whispers began that the pair should never have been put together - there was something strange and awful about them, and they were surely bad influences on each other.

.....Soon Dis began to bedeck himself with bones and golden jewelry. Nobody but Dis himself and perhaps Persephone know where these things come from. Most are too afraid to ask.

.....Dis has grown to look unnervingly like a much older dragon. Despite his lowly beginnings, he holds himself like a dragon with great power. No one wants to be the one to find out where that odd confidence comes from.

.....Haytham was a young prince of the Stonewatch harpies. He resented the cloistered life he lived among his flock, and believed that he should have been fighting the dragons. Eventually, he ran away and trained himself to fight. Unfortunately, he did not train himself well enough. He was captured by dragon warriors, who sold him to Dis.

.....At first, Haytham made several attempts to run away, but he did not have as much luck against his captor as he had had against his flock. For the most part, he was not allowed under the open sky, but even when he was, he was unable to fly away - Dis could outfly him.

.....Slowly, Haytham became resigned to his fate. He grew used to spending his days shining Dis's scales and preening the dragon's feathers, and gave up his attempts to escape. Then, a change: those dragons in the clan who paid attention to such things grew disturbed when they noticed a familiar pattern - the harpy spoke less and less, but rather than seeming disheartened, he began to hold his head high with pride.

.....Now, Dis treats Haytham not as a captive, but as an equal. The two are often seen to fly or walk side-by-side, silently watching the rest of the clan.
