They see a graveyard of emotions. With their eyes, they can see places where someone has experienced great loss, immense rage, complete hopelessness, crushing sadness.. they see it all, lingering in the space where someone once stood and felt it with each little fiber of their being. They walk among battlefields long since passed and see the splotches of helpless terror, the fear, the cold acceptance of death. They see nests, hidden away, covered in a pool of grief from a hatchling lost before they'd even begun to live. They see empty clearings where two hearts shattered apart, fractured remnants of heartbreak trickling among the grass.
And yet, they see beauty of emotions as well.
They see places where parents had their first born child and fell in love with their entire heart and soul, warm and bright and glowing. They see a puffy pink patch tucked away near the garden where two pining lovers shared their first snuggle session, hidden away from prying eyes, cloudy and dreamy. They find a spot of sparking, electric joy among the market stalls where someone stood and found the perfect gift for someone dear to them, something that would soon become a treasured possession. They see the tender waves of relief washing over a doorway where a loved one returned home from a battle they thought they wouldn't make it through. They watch the bright floral colors swirl where young ones had found their best friends for life, friendship blooming from the first instance they met. They gaze at the warm, honeyed light that matches the sunset where two partners had settled into their first home together, looking ahead towards a bright and happy future. They see the places where depression and despair had melted away, leaving behind only the soft white hue of hope from someone who had accepted help, someone who reached out, someone who believed that it would get better - and it will.
