Biography
Uh-oh, looks like this little forget-me-not wandered a little too far from her home lair (547158, TruthseekerSky6), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!
Truthseeker’s Note: Please don’t exalt, sell, or breed. Also, there is absolutely NOTHING that can make Chrys’s entire memory return to her. She might recall bits and pieces of information from the past—which in itself is quite rare and should appear sparingly—but not her whole memory, like her parents or all her past owners.

Chrysocolla, or Chrys for short (just call her Chrys, Chrysocolla is a very common dragon name), is a female Fae dragon. While she was hatched in an Arcane nest, she somehow wound up in the Shifting Expanse, where she grew up. Chrys has never been very sharp; she has a hard time remembering anything, including her own name sometimes. Just about the only thing Chrys can consistently remember is her bad memory. In addition, Chrys is quite restless and finds it hard to stay still for long periods of time. This means she frequently forgets about her place in a clan and flies away to seek one.
Chrys constantly worries about her memory, and whether she has forgotten anything important. She often fidgets with her claws as she scrunches her forehead to think, trying to recall critical information; despite her effort, she rarely remembers things when she needs to. She hates being so utterly forgetful, and constantly wishes things would change.
Chrys has trouble navigating, due to the fact that she can't memorize any map. She typically has no idea where she is at any one time.
In addition, Chrys loves to explore new things, even when she knows she’s going to forget about it. She has a carpe-diem attitude toward life, where she lives in the moment and the moment only, knowing she will forget about it eventually and choosing to enjoy her life as much as possible.
Chrys can be quite sociable, even if she tends to forget who she is friends with, or even who she is talking to. She acts friendly toward everyone and holds no grudges, although this is only because of her memory problems.
Occasionally something might jog Chrys’s memory, but this is a very rare event, and she usually forgets about the memory soon after.
TruthseekerSky6: Chrys stood on the Ridgeback’s head, peering outward at the Shifting Expanse. From here, she could see the Carrion Canyon and the Lightning Farm and the Tempest Spire—
She blinked, then looked down at the Ridgeback’s white, flat head. She was so confused. What...
“Wait. Who are you?” she asked. “Why am I on top of your head?”
The Ridgeback sighed. “You see,” she said slowly, enunciating her words as if Chrys was a hatchling, “you asked me to let you rest on my head, since your wings were tired from flying all day.”
Chrys closed her eyes. The dank fog of her mind was as impermeable as ever, but behind it, she could make out a hazy memory—
“Yeah, I think I know,” she said. Every day, she wished her mind would clear and her memories would become sharp, but the fog was always there, clogging her mental capacities. Sometimes she wondered if the fog was just as dense in other dragons’ minds, or if they could dispel it with a single thought.
The Ridgeback said, “Oh, good, Chrys.” She unfurled her enormous wings. “Alright, time to get off. You’ve had enough rest.”
Chrys stood up and beat her wings several times. They seemed good as new, although she knew exhaustion and pain... somehow.
“Well, thanks so much,” Chrys chirped, “um... ”
“Fighter,” the Ridgeback supplied.
Chrys blinked, trying to recall the near memory, then nodded. “Yes, yes, thank you, Fighter.”
If only I had a memory as decent as a normal dragon’s, she thought. If only I didn't have to ask every five minutes what an acquaintance's name was, or which flight they hail from. I wish...
She blinked.
What was I thinking about again? Blast, I forgot.
Fighter said, "Now that your wings are working again, you should take a little flight around the area. You need exercise, Chrys; you were only flying a few hours before your wings got tired."
"Okay," Chrys said. I suppose, she thought, Fighter knows more about me than I do. It was depressing to think about, but Chrys decided to not worry about that right now, when she needed to take a lap around the... the...
Oh well. She supposed she could fly around for a while.
Chrys lifted up from Fighter's head, beating her butterfly-like wings, feeling the air currents flow through them. I like flying, she thought.
"You know," Fighter mused, "I heard there's a dragon over in the Starfall Isles who can help dragons like you. I heard they can cure dragons with memory problems. But it's probably just a rumor—"
Chrys's head snapped up. "What? There's... "
The implications of this struck hard. Chrys hated being forgetful; she wanted to have a normal memory just like any other dragon. If there was even the slightest chance she could have a life like that...
"Thanks so much!" she called out to the Ridgeback (what was her name again?), fluttering away. "I'll heed your advice!"
She wasn't sure if the Ridgeback heard, but she was pretty sure the other dragon had called for her to come back. Perhaps she would, when she had a proper memory.
She was out of the Shifting Expanse when she realized she couldn't remember why she had left, or what she had been doing in there in the first place. Oh well. She was a lone dragon; she could handle this.
SCP1762
Well, Chrys found herself in a new clan. Maybe. She couldn't remember much of what happened before she found herself talking with a Coatl covered in lava and metalworking tools. He was saying something about nice meeting her and goodbye, and she went with it, happily going back out of the cave with a bit of ash on her tail, and heading to explore more.
TipsyKipsy
"Chrys, are you listening?"
Chrys looked up, startled out of her thoughts. What thoughts...? It was too late, they were gone again.
An immense Gaoler was staring down at her. "You've forgotten again?"
"Sorry," Chrys mumbled.
"No matter. It is finished," replied the Gaoler, and held out a set of bags, puny in the shaggy dragon's bulky claws, but perfectly sized to Chrys's body. "Look inside."
Chrys slung the bag over her shoulder, and did as the Gaoler asked. Inside was a notebook, and a set of wrapped charcoal sticks.
"You had described your memory issues to me... several times, in fact, and so I devised this system. Keep the bag on you at all times - with luck, the next time your memory lapses, you will be curious as to what's inside."
"I can write in this!" Chrys crowed.
"That's right," the Gaoler said, her grin looking almost fearsome. "Write something now, if you would."
Crys spoke as she scribbled in the front cover of the first page. "If found, please return to Chrysocolla." She paused. "What else?"
"Whatever you'd like," said the Gaoler. "Names of those you meet, maps of places you've been, goals of where you might like to go... anything you want to try to remember."
"I'd like to remember you," she responded shyly. "You've given me a great gift, and... and I've already forgotten your name."
The Gaoler grinned again. "My name is Secrecy, and I would be very pleased to be the first name in your book."
Chrys scribbled another few words. "This book and this bag were made by a generous Gaoler by the name of Secrecy, who I will be thankful to for as long as I can remember."
Secrecy laughed at the joke. "I will accept your thanks, but my true satisfaction will be in seeing you thrive with what I've given you. You will forget me in time, and this is fine. But with luck, my work here will carry on."
Chrys couldn't be sure if the Gaoler's work WOULD - she might lose the notebook, or the bag, or forget her name again and try to give the book to another Chrysocolla(it IS a common name), but for what felt like the first time, she had a hope of building something of her life.
