With flames in her eyes and a heart of molten steel, Berylwarden leads a clan founded on unbridled freedom. Her law is strict yet so strangely loose; punishment is quickly administered only to those who threaten the well-being of her clanmates and their sacred free will. Ironically, anyone who attempts to structure their way of life - rules, laws, and containment - is quickly shattered, thrown into the winds of Dragonhome.

A smokey and shadowed past shrouds her, and anyone who dares ask her find themselves fleeing for their lives. No one dares ask; no one dares wonder. New members of the clan see her as an unmoving testament to the strength of Earth, while older members begin to see her stoic visage flow like magma, a strange yet beautiful sight.

To her, the past doesn't exist. All that matters is the rising sun, the cool morning breeze, and the endless journey, forever following the wild path.

Berylwarden specializes in working with metal. From its beginning as raw ore to the finished product of shimmering alloys, she is there, toiling away in the flames of the forge. Throughout her life she has learned how to determine the quality of ores just by sight alone and what end product would suit them best. Her connection to metallurgy is almost religious; there is nothing else she is more passionate about (other than her clan, of course.)

Ironically, she does not wear armor. Claiming the metal on her scales is too cumbersome and uncomfortable, she prefers to wear loose apparels, such as leather and decorative jewelry. Surprisingly, the heat of molten ores and a hellfire forge does not burn her scales. Other blacksmiths in the clan look upon her in wonder, and then back at their own armored claws, wondering how she's able to smelt ores with no protection. No one dares ask. Besides, anyone who's fortunate enough to work alongside her is usually kept quiet. Beryl enjoys a peaceful work environment with only the hissing of the forge to keep her company.

Her fury is unmatched. Many hatchlings are terrified by her short fused temper. Her outbursts are violent and clamorous, a show of strength and power, albeit a little dramatic. She is cryptic, often answering questions with questions or giving extremely vague details.

Despite her seemingly endless rage, Berylwarden is otherwise a very quiet Ridgeback. Those who speak to her are often ignored, or given very short responses. Questions she does not wish to answer are replied to in silence, or worse. Her stoic demeanor, paired with her strength and sense of being, helps to keep her in a very visible position of power. While the clan respects her, she does not have many friends.

Her closest friends and allies - Goldfleck and Cernunnos - are the only ones who know of her previous strife, an upbringing that may have permanently scarred her social abilities for life. Deep down, she does wish she could be more open and warming. But with scarred scales, blistered and healed over hundreds of times, completely resistant to the licks of flame, it's nigh impossible to break that tempered shell and let anyone else in. Her duties as a leader and an artisan are her sole purposes, she believes. How can there be anything else?
