A Child of the Clan of the Wild Path

The day was unlike any other day within the Clan of the Wild Path. While every day was cherished for the joys it could bring, the day was filled with excitement and anticipation. For it was on this hot summer day the egg shells cracked before the protective gaze of the Clan leaders and with it sent shockwaves of joy to all who witnessed the event. For today, the Clan leaders birthed healthy children.

Many years had passed since the Clan had struggled beneath the weight of a catastrophic strain of plague that mutilated and killed them in droves. Goldfleck and Berylwarden did their very best to protect their clan and seek out aid, but it was not long before Goldfleck himself succumbed to disease. Though in the end they did find salvation in the wretched arms of the plague Imperial Nepenthe, the after effects of the plague remained in Goldfleck's blood for a long time.

Clutch after clutch he and Berylwarden had bred would suddenly hatch putrid green, with muted eyes and razor sharp quills covering their bodies. They tried their best to heal them, but they would only die shortly after birth. The plague was still flushing from Goldfleck's system, and while he was no longer contagious to his peers, it passed onto his children.

After waiting years and years for him to finally be purified, it is to the great joy of the Clan leaders to finally have healthy, strong children. While they are tearful to see them soar off to new homes, they know their patience has been well rewarded in bringing the strength of earth into the hearts of others.
