MELODY Sorceress "The greatest storytellers believe their own stories." |
Melody is as kind as she is bewitching. She discovered her abilities at a young age. There was never a time when she didn't love to tell stories. The skydancer has always been adept with words, weaving stories as if she had actually lived them. The tales she created captivated audiences no matter age or disposition. It only added to the effect that her magic allowed the words she spoke to actually come to life before the eyes of her listeners. Every time she showed her skills it was like some sort of cosmic puppet show the likes of which no dragon had ever seen before. Most swore they could reach out to touch the fantastical beasts and enchanting heroes, that they were truly flesh and bone. However, once the story ended, the visions would disappear just as quickly as they'd formed.
For most of her life, Melody spent her time as a wanderer, taking her show wherever there were willing ears to listen. Though she was lovely to those that met her, behind the scenes things were not so glamorous. Due to her gifts, Melody was burdened with a mind that constantly was filled with wonderlands and far away places. At times she would become lost within her thoughts to a degree that she wasn't sure there was any coming back. The toll on her mind transferred to her body, causing her aches and pains due to all the restless nights. Proper sleep was hard to come by. Still, she pressed on, adorning herself in light armor and enchanted gems to keep her body safe and her mind as calm as possible.
The best thing to come from her travels was the friendship she had formed with another skydancer. Upon visiting Chaotic Daydreams to entertain the eternal hatchlings, Melody met Rajja, the clan's midwife. She seemed to instantly notice through her empathy the truth behind Melody's smile. The two easily and naturally formed an incredibly deep bond. Before leaving Chaotic Daydreams, they agreed to stay in touch through magical gems that would allow them to communicate no matter how far apart they were. It was the most difficult goodbye she had ever said, but Melody did not feel that she belonged in Chaotic Daydreams, at least not now. She felt that her purpose was still out there in the world somewhere.
That's what brought her to Lockinge Vale.
The odd little town nestled between the hills was special, somehow. And when Melody arrived she was suddenly aware of how many other dragons in the coastal town were... strange. She quickly found herself staying longer than she normally would in any one place. It was as if something magical were keeping her there. She found a sort of home among the dragons of Lockinge Vale, and especially came to love spending time in the gardens outside where her children liked to play. These children, just like the ones at Chaotic Daydreams, would never grow for one reason or another. Melody was allowed to stay in the lair in return for Melody watching over the hatchlings when others were away on business. Though the skydancer had no real friends, Melody adored spending time with the children.
But nothing could make Melody forget Rajja and Chaotic Daydreams. Unable to fight her desire for a true home with a soulmate, the skydancer bid Lockinge Vale goodbye and made her way home for good.
