DREADRAVENS
A mini-subspecies native to and, thus far, exclusively found on the Veiled Isles

Dreadravens are enormous avian monsters, void-touched and formed from corrupted corvids and the souls of dragons. Like the darkness they host within, they are voracious beasts, feeding on whatever life they manage to get their talons on, devouring flesh, soul and magic alike.
Their sheer physical strength is unrivaled, and combined with their cunning and high intellect, they are one of the biggest threats to those who wander outside the boundaries of villages and towns.
Their dense plumage offers ample protection not only against physical injury, but absorbs spells of a handful schools of magic as well.
Aside from the obvious weaponry in sharp beak and crushing talons, they are also capable of producing bellowing caws that will shatter glass on impact with ease and standing too close is likely to cause permanent hearing damage to most creatures.
Due to their incredible intelligence, it has proven impossible thus far to try and tame or domesticate these beasts, but with an appropiate offering that is of interest to the Dreadraven, one may bribe their kind for favors and services. It is never without risk to deal with a still very much feral creature, and thus caution is advised when considering this path to acquire their assistance.
While they can be spotted all over the isle, they vastly prefer nesting amongst the midrange of the Evernight Peaks in small groups, swooping down towards the woodland to hunt for potential prey.
While their diet consists primarily of meat and accompanying souls, they are also known to feast on the aberrant fruit growing in various places across the isles, their rich mana contents capable of sustaining them in periods of low prey density.
