Many legends and cryptids exist on the outskirts of the Wandering Contagion, perhaps none more perplexing than the HeeHoo.
His origins are unclear, though legends claim that he was once a normal fae like any other. But one day, he suddenly snapped. No one knows why, or how, or what could have possibly caused it, but many agree about what happened next. He allegedly attacked his own clan, even his own friends family, and was exiled, destined to wander the Scarred Wasteland forever...

Only a few dragons have ever encountered HeeHoo. According to legend, he speaks no Draconian, and many describe his sounds as being more beast-like than dragon. His eyes are sunken, hidden behind his bird mask, showing no signs of a sane dragon behind them. He scours the wastelands during the day, searching for food, and some claim to have seen glimpses of a black-and-white figure, supposedly HeeHoo's. But like most cryptids, the most interesting encounters take place after the sun disappears from view.

Those brave enough to journey through plague territory at night always seem to have interesting stories to tell. That is, if they live to tell them. Those who have encountered HeeHoo claim to hear a strange ticking sound, almost like a clock. No one knows exactly how he does it, perhaps through the tapping or his claws or the clicking of his tongue. And no one knows why he does it. Maybe it's a warning sound, meant to mimic the hostile buzzing of beetles. Some believe that it really is meant sound like a clock, ticking down to the demise of his prey.

Whatever the reason, all accounts report a sudden stop in the HeeHoo's tapping. The victim waits in bone-chilling silence until suddenly...
he strikes
HeeHoo's attacks differ greatly from most fae tactics. Fae prefer to fly above their enemies, raining down fierce magical attacks on their opponents. HeeHoo's strikes are almost exclusively close range, using his sharp, almost bone-like claws, to hurt his opponents. Unlike his fae brethren, he rarely uses his own element in battle, and only ever its physical attack, and has never been seen flying in any encounter. Some even speculate that he can't fly, because he was exiled before he learned how.

Some dragons who know the legend of HeeHoo have tried to communicate with him, venturing into his known territory to seek him out. Some sympathize with HeeHoo, trying to reassure him, welcoming him to their homes. Others seek him out of vengeance, after hearing of the assault or even the loss of someone they love. Regardless, all encounters seem to end the same, with HeeHoo violently rushing the trespasser, leading to their forced retreat from his home. Most generally conclude that HeeHoo cannot understand Draconian, let alone speak it, based on the nonsensical screeches and chirps he makes. A few see some gestures as potential attempts at communication, but these claims are unsubstantiated.

What is HeeHoo really? A monster, a cryptid, just another fae? No one knows, and perhaps it's better left that way. But any dragon traveling through the Wandering Contagion must always be cautious... or they may become another victim of one of Plague's many oddities.
