Biography

Plaguebringer. Enjoys a quiet shade.

Have you considered that life is pretty good? Like, not perfect good. Just, pretty good all-around.

The Story of a Box:

Sleak found it first, or let’s just put it that way for convenience sake. She was cataloging a particularly intriguing mushroom whose capsule-like spores seemed to cause miniature explosions on whatever they hit, leaving a circle of very tiny destruction in its wake as a small pop could be heard when a spore found purchase, followed by a faint burning smell and single wisp of smoke. She turned to grab something from her satchel and jumped at the sight of a large, plain, brown box that had seemed to appear in its place. She lifted up the box , nothing beneath it. Searched the area around it and still no satchel-
“Most curious indeed, I know I brought it with me” she muttered to herself before a thought kicked in, a rather ludicrous idea but her practice of science knew no such meaning of the word. She peered inside the box and the wheels in her head began turning,
“This calls for an experiment” She grinned and hoisted the box off the ground.
The box was light enough but a bit awkward to carry, she began the walk back to her lab.

Opal had been trying to converse with Serph, one of the new comers, just to say a hello of sorts and check-in on how the elusive wildclaw was doing but the conversation had delved into simple small talk. She was about to say farewell when she noticed Serph looking behind her with a strange expression and a small chuckle escaped the wildclaw. Turning, Opal saw the cause as Sleak was waddling through; a large box held tight between her forepaws, her long neck barely able to see over the rim as she made her way to her lab. She called out after the bogsneak, Serph following behind her.
“Do you want help with that?” Opal reached out to grab a side but Sleak gently waved her away with her tail.
“No no I’m fine thank you.” She paused before saying “You could come help me with something though.”
“Sleak stepped into the lab, careful not to bump the doorframe and set the box on a table.
Serph looked to Opal and noticed a look of apprehension firmly set on her face.
“Hm, why not.” He passed the threshold and Opal sighed but followed him in.
Sleak was gathering a host of different objects: beakers, tools, small containers, a plant from the window sill, 1 of everything it seemed. She laid out the objects and one by one started putting them into the box.
“What are you doing?” Opal looked inside as the items simply kept accruing at the bottom.
“Well, I found this box out in the woods and I think it ate my satchel.” Sleak said it so matter-of-factly one wouldn’t question her logic if it wasn’t so absurd. She raised a claw to silence Serph or Opals suggestions and stuck her head into the box. A muffled “AHA!” and a moment later she brought out all the items but it seemed that all the containers were gone.
“Look inside for yourselves, it’s empty again” The two dragons gave an incredulous look to Sleak, but obeyed and peaked over the rim. Tried and true as she said the box was empty once more.
“But, how?!” Opal tried feeling for anything strange with her arcane abilities but to no avail. She and Sleak spent several minutes discussing possible experiments they would each like to try before hearing shuffling sounds followed by an “oof.”
“I mean, I was going to get a mouse to put inside but that works too.” Opal smacked Sleak with her tail over the comment and leapt over to the box. Looking down at the disgruntled wildclaw, Serph merely flicked his tail once before confiding “You know, it’s actually not bad in here.”
