Biography
The small wagon’s interior was cramped and laden with cobwebs, burdened and heavy with thick dust, reflecting the dim flickering light of a candle near death. Lain upon an oddly moist woven rug, its brilliant and intricate patterns a stark contrast to its disconcertingly bleak surroundings, of the supposedly clinical setting, she peered down to you. The relief of your rescue was beginning to fade.
“Once I was exactly like you, hope as lost as your sickly being lost in these wastes. My scales were cracked and gaping like the Canyonwalks, face as misshapen as yours, my innards functioned not as they should but by Mother’s name I shall spare you the details! And to see me now, believe me I am more spritely than a hatching, a well oiled machine! You, child, can be too, healed!”
Her hand was uncomfortably clammy, a strange texture of skin that seemed inexplicably more foreign than you would’ve thought possible. She pressed it to your forehead slick with sweat and creating somewhat of a suction effect, the sweet stench of rot grew thicker the closer in she leant, but the resounding fatigue of your ailing body prevented you from pulling away.
“In Mother’s name, child, you will be healed! You will be healed!”
A blinding light eclipsed your vision then, staring momentarily and breathlessly into a void immense and endless. A blot forms and grows somewhere peripheral, and it jumps. The pale and bandaged face of the Spiral before you is replaced then by one green and warty. The frog, the Mother stares back at you.
