Biography
Hecuba | Clan leader, warrior | Lawful neutral | First
Mate to: None
Awakened Familiars: Smoke Gyre, Snarling Mimic, Blazing Goblin, Animated Armor, Tar-Trooper Slarg, Peacock Scorpion, Speckled Peacock Spider, Firefly Cockatrice, Spirit of Fire, Emberglow Gem Guardian, Burning Virgo, Banshee Brooch, Basic Hippalectryon, Porphyry Flamecaller, Sunrise Troodo, Flameback Slink, Runescar Lynx, Armed Flight
Other notes: Progenitor, exalted and sent back by the Flamecaller
Hecuba is gruff, businesslike, and generally very solitary -- PR isn't her strong suit, but she can't be pushed around; if any dragon tries to make his opinions heard, she makes it very clear that it's a privilege to be taken seriously (looking at you, Bertilak). Several of her clanmates would testify that the only reason she's even still around is because of her sheer stubbornness, and many like to joke that the reason she came back from the Flamecaller was because the fiery ladies refused to listen to each other. The real reason she came back from the Flamecaller is unknown, and most dragons are afraid to ask (except Mestra, who doesn't have the privilege of Hecuba's ear anyway).
Hecuba has never taken a mate, and probably never will, but her closest friend is Yawanuri, with whom she founded the clan, and who kept an eye on it during her absence. However, the two were much closer before she departed, and upon her return, their friendship has been more superficial than it used to be. They still get along and work together well, but Hecuba knows things about their mutual patron deity that Yawanuri can only dream of -- and she is under obligation to reveal nothing. Whether bound magically or simply by honor, no one knows. There is no resentment between them, but they both know that in some way, they are no longer on equal ground.
Hecuba has indeed been different since her return -- and not just in the form of her tattered wings and skeletal visage (and the fact that she left as a Guardian dragon and came back a Wildclaw). Although she is as obstinate as ever, there is something about her that is more distant, aloof, and even ethereal than before. Perhaps it's just everyone else projecting onto her, knowing where she's been and what things she's seen, but most clanmates would agree that she seems a little darker, a little more... sinister. There are whisperings in the clan, particularly among the younger dragons -- perhaps it's time for a new clan leader.
