Description
Bio
Hollow's story is many things, but it's most certainly not a happy one. A being born for a single purpose, one of hundreds upon thousands like them, yet Hollow was the only one fit to take that destined role, as they were just that. Hollow, without a mind to think, without a will to break, without a voice to speak. And so, they were chosen for that purpose, trained and raised and taught by their king, by their father. At long last, there was hope for their world, for a Pure Vessel had finally been found, and pure they truly were.
But pure they did not remain, for their father had made a grave mistake, having raised them as his own child, showing them, for just a sliver of a moment, compassion, care and pride, for that was what they were- His child, one of many, yet the only one not cast into the dark. And so, learning of their importance, of their destiny, they felt pride. They felt pride, then fear, as that pride, and that fear, had made them impure, imperfect. They knew the fate of their siblings, those who had felt, had thought, had hoped from the beginning, and chose to bury those thoughts down below, to snuff out that mind in the hopes that they would be hollow once more, and so they had a will. From there, they hid their mind, their will, their fear from their father, who was none the wiser.
Yet perhaps their fate, their destiny, their purpose, was far crueler than that of their siblings. The Impure Vessel knew little of their goal. To seal away an ancient light, to save their kingdom from a terrible plague. That was all they knew, and if they had learned the full truth, perhaps they would have chosen to join their kin in darkness they were born from.
As they were led to that accursed temple, as they stepped into the darkness, they were still pushing back those fears, those doubts, those thoughts. And as the chains coiled tightly about their body, as the temple's door was closed and sealed, as their last glimpse of the world outside those walls faded away, their father staring back with guilt and shame in his eyes, they pushed back their thoughts. As the ancient light filled their mind, the mind they should never have had, they pushed back their thoughts, and even as that light weathered away at their shadowed body and drove their forbidden mind to near madness, they still dared not think, despite that will to succeed having contributed to their failure.
And so, the Vessel hung by ancient chains, sealed by spell and dream, and suffered from an undeserved fate, and there they remained for a thousand years, if not far, far longer, the light locked within their mind, the same mind that allowed it to slowly seep out and continue to spread it's control like the accursed plague it was, until, one fateful day, their sibling had come to relieve them of that burden and suffering.
Yet, even in the bittersweet ending that was their death, the Hollow Knight was not relieved of their mind, was not allowed to so much as return to the Void from which they were torn away from, as it was not long before they awoke at Sanctuary's edge, body aching, mind scarred, and will almost broken, hanging on by a single, frayed thread.
But perhaps this is the better ending. After all that suffering, perhaps they deserve a second chance to live their life. Perhaps the rest they so deeply deserve is not that of death, but instead of comfort, of freedom, of the companionship of those who truly care about them.
Perhaps their happy ending is long overdue.

Banes
Weaknesses
- Unable to speak
- Obedient to a fault at times
- Not in the best of health, physically or mentally.
- Missing an arm
Dislikes
- Being alone for long periods of time
- Intense light or complete darkness
- Almost any situation in which their movement is heavily restricted, especially if off the ground
And the rest
Facts
- Tall. As in, around ten feet tall at the horns. Their posture isn't the best, however, so they're usually a bit closer to eight feet.
- Eyes are empty holes. Their lack of a mouth means they eat by putting food in their eyeholes. They can still see just fine.
- Surprisingly childlike mentally, despite their physical age and history- They haven't had much of a chance to develop mentally, and have a lot to learn about how the world works. (By no means am I trying to infantilize them. They have gone through serious trauma. However, I don't headcanon them as distrustful or bitter- They've been given a second chance to live their life, and are responding with hope and curiosity.)
