BARGHEST LORE AND LINEAGE PROJECT
GENERATION 4 BLACKMORE'S LINE
"I befriended Silence and together we learn all the secrets within the Forest."
Beware the Forest for they have eyes and are always watching. The trees are family, the shadows are friends. It’s easy to hide. Easy...to follow. You turn around but nothing’s there, but the eyes follow you. You’re never alone. This is the tale of the Barghest, Hide. |
Hide. That was his name. Ironic. Those wish to hide from him but never realize how he always finds them and is always watching. Legends and stories of the Hidebehinds are spread among the small villages that edge the dark woods. The Hidebehinds are creatures that follow travelers from the woods and yet whenever you look behind you, there’s nothing. Some say it’s a beast, others a shadow figure. Those who actually see Hide, when he allows it, see a large black dog with shaggy fur, a similar appearance as a cross between a Irish wolfhound and Scottish Deerhound. Hide as a pup within the pack enjoyed playing hide and seek. His elder Barghest kin used the game as part of his training for when he finally joins the pack. Baskerville was his trainer. They would play hide and seek; Baskerville would transform as other clan mates while Hide would try to locate him without Baskerville finding him. If Baskerville see him, Baskerville would change his disguise. Thanks to him, Hide was able to hone his craft. Nothing strikes fear more than watching a large dark creature walk behind a small sapling but never appearing on the other side. As if merging with the tree itself. The smell of fear would reach Hide’s nose. Nothing is better than the fear and paranoia his prey exhibits is always his favorite game. Most of the time he doesn’t attack. That’s what makes it better. Most travelers don’t even last one night in his portion of the woods. Their uneasiness would win and despite their exhaustion, they’ll pack up and practically run out of the woods. If he’s bored enough, he’ll follow until the edge of the forest. If the prey turned out to be a threat, he’ll attack with no hesitation. However, he must answer to Kyrkogrim, Blackmore, and Oolong, if he attacks without them knowing. Those aren’t worth the hassle most of the time. Hide now spends most of his time hanging out with Thorne. Their mutual joy in hiding within the shadows make them great partners when teaming up against prey. Be warned when you venture through Hide’s portion of the woods. Eyes will follow you but you won’t be able to see him until he lets you. And even then...do you even want to see him?
