She kept her trident readied. "Of course I have time. I have time to haunt you too, if I wanted. What brings you to my waters?" Dainard sat on a twisted stump by the waterside. "I've seen through many crews. My latest one docks near here. I figured, since my crew would be here often, and some of the fishers spoke of a spirit by this lake, I'd pay a visit. Besides, you've never told me your name." "My name?" She echoed, almost in disbelief. "Yes, if you still have one." "Of course I do. Even if I haven't spoken it in ages. It's Kilpke." "Well, Kilpke, it's good to make your formal acquaintance." "Formal acquaintance? I'd ought to haunt you." "Say what you will, but you're welcome aboard the ship. Perhaps you'd find it less lonely than a since-landlocked lake. But, I'm sure I'll see you some time again." "Maybe I will haunt you." "Your choice, I bid you a good evening." Captain Dainard said as he padded away. Kilpke bit her tongue before she could call out," Wait, don't go!" She ought to haunt him... he's insufferable, but the company is nice. It's been a while since she's gotten to really talk to another dragon. Hasn't been since life, all those many, many years ago. |
