Biography
H U C K L E B E R R Y
Uh-oh, looks like this edgy noodle wandered a little too far from her home lair (Cr3scent, #334852), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!
Travel Log:
9/9/2020: It was a fine predicament to be in. Day one of her travels, and Huckleberry found herself behind bars. She figured that a city as large as Clan Mavenlark would be child's play to pick from, with so many moving bodies that a single missing wallet or bread loaf would be difficult to track. This was an unfortunate miscalculation - as it turned out, a significant portion of those bodies were disguised guards. What a spectacle of a place - hiring incognito security guards as if it were some kind of kingdom, not a heavily trafficked trader's city.
The Guardian manning her cell had little to do - the rest of the cells were evidently empty, given how much her voice reflected. The two had gotten to talking in the meantime - Huckleberry had started the conversation in the hopes of smooth-talking her way out of the lair, offering anything from goods to personal attention should the Guardian give her the key out. It hadn't worked, but it hadn't stopped the two from talking, anyway.
"You could have just asked one of us for food, you know," said the Guardian. "That's what we're here for."
Huckleberry couldn't help herself from rolling her eyes. She knew the type. Authority figures always loved to fluff themselves up with big talk of their altruism. The likelihood of them following up on it was far slimmer.
"I sense you doubt me. Nothing to be done to change your mind now, but in the meantime" - here, the Guardian reached into her satchel and pulled out a large round of sausage - "take some of my lunch."
"Tempting, but I'll pass. You talk nice, but anything could be in that meat."
"I can't say I don't respect your wariness. Regardless, I'll leave this with you in case you change your mind later. Meat makes my stomach turn." She slipped the meat through the bars and into the Pearlcatcher's hands, firmly nodding once it made contact. "I have to go now. Chances are that your crime is petty enough to be overlooked, and you'll merely be banned from the clan. Be safe out there."
A few days later and the Guardian's prediction came to be - Huckleberry was sent away from Mavenlark, and politely asked to never return. In her satchel, she carried a final bite of sausage

Traded away from her family at birth, Huckleberry never felt there was a place she could truly call home. There was nothing she felt except betrayal as she witnessed her own parents sell her away for treasure. This event caused Huckleberry to develop a twisted view on life and the actions of everyone around her. Her adoptive family was a tribe of thieves who only purchased her as another thief for their troupe. She was placed under the command of Boromir, a sadistic commander who didn't care about the survival of anyone but himself. Boromir only worsened Huckleberry's perspective on other dragons. "Dragons only take from others. We're sickening and vile beings..." Despite Huckleberry's desperate and confusing situation, someone miraculously came to her rescue. Jannath, another commander of the thieves, told Huckleberry the stories of her travels as an ambassador. Jannath stole from wealthier dragons to give her findings to those in need. Although nothing could change the fact that Jannath was a thief, she gave hope to Huckleberry that somewhere in the world kindness existed. Jannath was the only push Huckleberry needed to run away from her adoptive tribe and see the world. Still tainted with a bad onlook of life, she hopes to find her away to other lairs where happiness lives. Of course, affection and altruism is worth more than any of the treasure she could ever steal. |
