ATTIC


The life of an antique hunter can be a boring one. After all, Attic spends most of her days in the homes of the elderly, exorcising the spirits of dead loved ones from things like portraits and loveseats. They rarely put up much of a fight. The spirits themselves are too tired, and their vessels, much too weak. The best workdays by far are the ones where she gets to bring her harpoon and go on a real hunt - destroying haunted sickles that threaten to chop nearby dragons into bits, or restless candlesticks with a desire for arson. Those rarely happen as much as she'd like, though. As romantic of a notion as it is for antiques to be haunted, the age of such items usually weakens the haunting in turn. How threatening is a rust-blunted sword with no handle? The ghost of a ten-thousand year old grandfather with arthritis? All that effort just to get a face full of cobwebs and a boring fight to the end doesn't feel worth it some days, but she finds little ways to make up for the less fun days. Once her work is done and the spirits dispelled - often though a mixture of salt and her own personal enchantments - she makes some extra coin reselling the once-inhabited objects that have remained mostly intact through her "treatment". Nobody needs to know where they came from.
