Biography

Massive in size, Thanatos is part of a rare, gargantuan strain known as Major Aberrations. Though he was originally far smaller when he first dipped into the Wyrmwound, something within its virulent depths caused Thanatos to grow nearly three times his previous size - on top of a second head, of course.

Thanatos is most often in control of his body, rarely allowing Ker, his second head, to have much of a say. With gradual acceptance of the companionship of Atropos and the others of the Quarantine

Thanatos has always been a <wandering> stray. He never fit in and was never able to stay in one place for long - mostly due to his initial wild and abrasive personality. He was a dragon scorned, eventually abandoning the Scarred Wasteland altogether to seek solitude in the frozen reaches of the Reclaimer's Glacier.

How Thanatos survived in such an unforgivable waste is a secret to all but himself. He had always been resourceful, and his parentage afforded him a certain resistance to the glacier's sub-zero temperatures. But beyond that, Thanatos' survival spent in solitude is a mystery (and presently a topic of rumored discussion amongst the dragons of the Quarantine).

While alone in the Glacier, Thanatos tempered his body and mind. He learned how to live off the scarce scraps of sustenance stumbled across, as well as a timeless patience and how to endure unending solitude. He also learned how to seize opportunity when it presented itself - any ally in the ice could just as easily become his next meal, including his own kind.

It was only when he felt a stirring deep within his very bones, a call that bid him return to his birthplace in the Wyrmwound, that Thanatos returned to the Scarred Wasteland.

Since he emerged from the Plaguebringer's cauldron with his kin, Thanatos planned to returned to his self-imposed exile from the rest of dragonkind, but found that he could hardly sustain his massive form and newfound hunger. He now had two heads to feed instead of one, and two voices to contend with.

What irony it was to Thanatos that the aberration was never without company when all he desired was to be alone. Thanatos - or at least his original mind - was vicious towards his other head, snapping and snarling whenever it dared speak aloud. It was only allowed to eat the scraps Thanatos left behind after eating - if he left any in the first place.

Thanatos never even learned if it had a name - didn't want to know it.

Still wandering the Scarred Wasteland, a starving Thanatos chanced across Atropos - the only dragon he had seen in weeks at the time. He would normally have avoided another dragon at all costs, but he was weak from hunger. Thanatos knew he would have to risk fending off potential aggression from the other, larger dragon
