Fourteen clans. From the Viridian Labyrinth to the Windswept Plateau and back again.
Each time Nadina thought they'd found their home, something would…happen. An explosion that destroyed half the clan lair. A mysterious pox that infected only skydancers--leaving the two lone fae, her and Avis, suspiciously unharmed. A curse that turned the winter food stores of meat and seafood to dust. And so it'd go. They were kicked out or left behind or mysteriously lost along a foraging route. Her and Avis, clanless, outcast once more.

Teammates

Then they found Clan Wandering Tree. It was small then--a guardian, a tundra and a mirror. Young, untried, focused on protecting the labyrinth. Most importantly, the clan leader Mai was blissfully ignorant of any news involving a couple of traveling fae and the disaster that followed them everywhere.

Nadina had always been excellent at making friends. She now turned her skills to making herself indispensable. First, she worked as a gatherer, later as a healer and now finally as an adviser on the council. Anything to ensure the clan wouldn't kick them out. It didn't stop disasters from happening. Each morning Nadina woke, it was with the fear that she'd find the clan had packed and left without them. And yet--miraculously--the clan didn't abandon them, no matter what calamity befell.
Still, she didn't dare relax or hope.
If anything, she had grown more determined than ever to secure their place in the clan.
