Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this cartographer and explorer wandered a little too far from his home lair (grxndsxn, 437722), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting him!

Gale and his siblings love to explore - and they owe their desire to travel from Isolda, a traveller that they met as young hatchlings. Despite this, they still hope they can eventually find some clan to stay in permanently.

The young cartographer began his journey sailing from the south coast of the Scarred Wasteland to the tip of the Southern Icefields, and with his small bag of tools and parchment he explored the length of the region. Thankfully, despite his alignment to Plague, his winter coat kept him warm in the harsh cold. When he reached the easternmost port in the Southern Icefield, he boarded yet another ship. Typically, boats with furs and riches from the Icefields either sail the treacherous route to the Windswept Plateau through a terrible storm, or to the ports along the southern coast of the Shifting Expanse, a comparatively calm beach when you considered the lava leaking into the ocean at nearly every landable place in the Ashfall Waste. Despite being the longest route, if you wanted to get from the most populated area of the Icefields to the mainland, you traveled through the Stormcatcher's domain.

In the Shifting Expanse, there is a lot to explore. There are huge underground tunnel systems, Beastclan settlements, and strange rock formations formed by the shrieking wind and the explosive power of the lightning that strikes the ground every night. Gale, for the first time truly on his own, felt in his element as he recorded the locations of these strange landmarks and tried his best to come up with a meaningful map of Sornieth. But as everyone who calls this desert home knows, the sands change quickly, uncovering new formations as it covers others up. It was frustrating work, and he knew before long that he would run out of food and water. Thankfully, he had marked the locations of trade roads that he came across, and he knew the region's earth and lightning mages spent much of their energy keeping these roads clear so wares can travel to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, where ships could safely transport goods directly to most regions.

On these roads, he found Saibhreas. A modest city, with welcoming citizens. He especially enjoyed the company of their traveler's innkeeper, Miss Vanilla. A healer by trade, her compassionate heart helped foreign dragons acclimate to the hot, dry climate and the sometimes eccentric citizens. He met the blind Scion, the current heir and disgrace to the Chief Magistrate of Saibhreas himself. Rumor had it he was a necromancer, and his father sought a new heir to replace him.

He recorded as much as he could about these adventures, but eventually the time for him to leave came, and bidding Vanilla a tearful farewell, he headed on his way.
