that's what she always had been.
it wasn't a bad sort of lost, but the others didn't seem to understand.
On her flights that took her far from home, she'd ponder many things.
On one of them, she stumbled upon a lair.
She landed and walked up to the gates, and they were opened for her.
A fae fluttered out
Astatine was welcomed inside
She stayed for the afternoon, and returned many times to that crack in that cliff
She was exiled from her tribe
She went to the only safe place she could think of
Opportunity
She found her love there, a Tundra who had left his own clan for his own reasons.
She had a beautiful nest of three hatchlings with him.
One left, still a hatchling, having the same peregrinating nature as her mother.
One was drafted into service under the Stormcatcher.
One stayed in Opportunity.
When the Clan moved to the Reflected Dimension, Astatine came too, as did Radon.
A few years later, Radon left, hating the place where the winds turned bright and the seas ran dark.
Soon after, Astatine succumbed to her desire to always be moving.
She was given a Key to the Reflected Dimension for if she ever wanted to return, which she still has locked away.
She uses it, from time to time.


The Clan of Forgotten Dreams watched them in silence.
Greetings. It has been long since we had a visitor. The residents of the Reflected Dimension are always welcome here.
Astatine bowed once to the newest clan Matriarch, Fearless, before thanking the forgotten clan for their hospitality.
Hell had risen among the Clan, rumors flying bright and wild.
Legends, whispers, memories of a time before...

But she had to leave eventually, and so she returned. She greeted her child and her grandchild.
Cobalt told of more, long lost. (Megalomania, the last one left. what had happened?)
She was there to witness the downfall of a clan, there to witness the death of many, there to escape and leave again.
She grieved, and moved on, as she had always done before
Always glad she had left before the Guardian had been linked to the key-glasses
A way of escape.

She traveled to many, many other places, but in the end, she always circled back.
She witnessed many things along her trek.
Every time she visited the Reflected Dimension, it was different.
It was strange, to watch the small outposts grow.
It was strange to watch the first Troupe collect its dues and then bid farewell.
It was strange to watch the growth of the beekeeper's family, lost and found again.
It was strange to watch the second Troupe appear.
It was strange to watch her grandchild and his strange band pulled into its embrace.
It was strange to feel the pull.
It was strange to resist it, limbs, thoughts heavy with ice and flame.

It was strange to leave again.
