B I O G R A P H Y

______ Astrology had always been curious--a bit too curious, if her current state was anything to go by. From the time she had been a hatchling--a real hatchling--she had always had a keen interest in the arcane and the magical, spending her early days under the Arcanist’s guidance learning to catalogue the mysteries of the heavens above and concoct all manner of magical potions and alchemical brews, reading signs in smoke and flames and bones and tea (the tea leaves were always her favorite), delighting in unraveling the mysteries of the extraordinary magic all around her. She was a skilled seer—no one in her clan disputed that. From alliances and wars with other flights to new hatchlings within her own, Astrology could foresee events both good and bad written in the very stars above, and her clan adored her for it. The one thing she always failed to see, however, was her own future.

______ In her younger days, she had often been frustrated that she could not see her own path laid out before her, but as she reached adulthood, she came to terms with it, and even felt a sense of inner peace. The dragons that came to her to seek their fortunes and to learn what lay ahead were often driven to distraction, consumed by their concerns for their futures while Astrology treated each new day as a new adventure. Not knowing what was in store for her led her to a number of pleasant surprises--and even when the surprises weren’t quite so pleasant, she delighted in the unknown; her own life was another mystery to be solved, day by day. And then came the incident. She would have liked to have seen that one coming.

______ An alchemical experiment had gone awry, the explosion sending wild magic spiraling through the air, bouncing off every available surface, triggering a chain reaction of chaos the likes of which had never been seen in Astrology’s meticulously-kept laboratory space. When the smoke cleared, something was off--she felt better than she had in years, although she couldn’t quite say why--and it wasn’t until Astrology caught a glimpse of her own reflection that she saw what, precisely, had changed. Decades had fallen away. She was young again--too young, in her opinion; how could anyone take her seriously when she looked like this?

______ But her flight still loved her and still admired her magical gifts. Although years passed, Astrology never aged. Seasons came and went, and still she kept the face and form of a hatchling, but her current state had its merits; the Arcanist deemed her the perfect face of the Arcane Flight, representing the wonders of the arcane arts and serving as a cautionary tale of the dangers of improperly used magic. And so Astrology came to represent the Arcane Flight all throughout Sornieth, traveling far and wide to spread the Arcanist’s wisdom across the continent, eager to share her gifts and knowledge with other Flights.
