Thoughts:
▸The King: Unworthy of the place he holds, is given more respect and leeway than he deserves. This is a man who got extremely lucky with the place he was given and he seems to be doing just about nothing with it.
▸High Priest: Perceptive, but not enough. Smart, too eager to please, or make up or something?
▸The Undertaker: Useless, she’s been on the council for a long time for someone who does so little.
▸Guard Captain: Strong, powerful, and mostly aware. Someone to be careful around.
▸Keyal: Could be something great if she wasn’t so attached to her betters.

Known as the shield of the Guard, Atney has been shown on multiple occasions to be willing to stand up for his fellow guard, whether that be during battle or from otherwise unkind treatment from other people. This has led to him being on good terms with the rest of the garrison.

Atney is widely considered to be a big sweetheart by the Kingdom residents, many relating him to a teddy bear in temperament. Often viewed as only good-natured, even when he messes up.
Young but hardworking, people have been asking when Atney was going to get a promotion since meer months after he became a full member of the Guard. As the most popular member of the garrison with both his fellow guard and with the civilians who live in the Kingdom everyone believed it only a matter of time… Atney did too. Ser Hydrangea was appointed instead, to his shock, and the imperial was forced to wait. For almost three years, infact, before he seemed to catch the attention of High Priest Brigan. Took long enough. Frazzled as the elf was, Atney took advantage of the moment and before the day was done he had finally been promoted to Royal guard.
Thoughts:
▸Hydrangea: Aware, perceptive, emotion sensitive, despite his extreme sleep deprivation. Handle him cautiously.
▸Jurek: Too open, too honest, for his own good. Sometimes lying is better for your own health.
▸Zulily: Competent, watchful, she would have been a perfect Guardcaptain.
▸Fell: He’s so good at his job that he has made himself un-promotable. Nice guy though, idealistic.
Thoughts:
▸Panorous: Uncertain, awkward, finicky, he doesn’t know what to do with himself anymore.
▸Lupus: Warm, has all the appearances of someone open, while still being extremely guarded.
▸Leovan: Knows his worth and then some, kind of annoying to talk to, too self-important.
▸Kinning: Naive, but respectable. Too eager to please, probably because of what happened to his last home.

Biography
Nothing is known about Atney’s past from before he was a teenager, seeing as he came to the Kingdom gates alone and thin. While questions were asked, the youth denied answering any of them, the only thing he seemed willing to give was that his name was Atney, and that he was from the Shadow domain. At first, people seemed unsure what to do with him, but Alusair, of the Council, stepped up and took the boy under his wing. It didn’t take long for Atney to be placed in the Guard Barracks, like Fell, and for him to start being trained as a Squire.
Because of his early placement in the guard, and his drive to prove himself, he found himself being made a full member of the Guard very early on. Something that he was proud of, and that the rest of the garrison seemed proud of too, becoming a full Knight didn’t come long after that. It had been… something else to see the King for himself, to meet him, and when he was fully called ‘Knight’ Atney felt like he had finally been recognized… but he wanted more. The King was a warm man, smart, who seemed really kind. Very kind to his adopted son, too. Jealousy may or may not have been immediate towards Vier, Atney wishing he could have what the ice dragon did. So, even as he achieved his previous goals the youth was not satisfied. He needed to be a Royal guard, to prove himself, to be close to the King so he could show he was better than the half-wit squire that had been adopted.
Of course, this wouldn’t work out. It was maybe a year after Atney had been named a true Knight that the King and Queen left to join the elemental war and Vier was crowned. Well, eventually, Vier was crowned eventually. It took a good three months for the two council members left to make him smart enough to not mess up the ceremony. Atney couldn’t help but think that things would have turned out differently if he had been in that position. If he could have been King. These thoughts never died down, even as the King accrued more experience on leading and governing. So, Atney waited. He’d be made Royal Knight eventually, but now his intentions were different. A stressed, frazzled, High Priest was all he needed. He knew that Brigan had promoted three guardsmen to being Royal guards just that morning and Atney had a plan. He approached the elf with the front that he thought Jurek would be an ideal Royalguard, talking the Arcane mirror up as best as he could. He knew the High priest had planned on doing that already, Jurek had once been friends with the founding King afterall, but the real point was bringing himself to the skydancer’s attention without seeming conceited. It had worked, of course, and by the morning of the next day he had been summoned by the Highpriest for exactly that conversation. Later than he would have liked, but step one was done.
Personality
In the eyes of others, Atney is a gentle, soft-spoken man who doesn’t say anything unless he has to. Quiet, reserved, it isn’t odd for him to be quiet or to not draw attention to himself in normal day activity. But, on the other side is the defender in him, the one of principle and good, that will stand up for other people when they are being wronged. Seen as a man of virtue, any wrongdoings done by Atney are often viewed as innocent mistakes brought on by his need to protect others, or by his naive youth.
Most would view him as kind, as sweet, speaking only the nicest of words to other people and only being firm or harsh when defending someone else. Not the type to speak up for himself, or to ask for something, he is a genuine, caring, young man who is just trying his best to be good. This belief means that others are often just as willing to defend him, even if he is not in the right.
Personality
In reality, Atney is a cold, calculating individual who masks his true character in order to better sway the people around him. Manipulative, a grade A actor, he is not the type you should trust but he will trick you into believing he is. Atney is smart, he’s clever, and he knows what to say in order to get the outcome he wants. Most people make the mistake of underestimating but that is very intentional.
Harsh, judgemental, perceptive, sharp eyes seer into the every movement of his opponents and he is quick to size people up in discussions. While often speaking with a soft, caring, tone Atney normally thinks little of the people around him. Uninterested in the ‘whys’ to the flaws or weaknesses in others beyond how that information can serve him, he believes that people should just get up and learn to move past the things that would hold them down. It works for him.
