Biography
It was a lovely evening at the Dawn Shadow Inn. Oriana, the inn’s founder, sat quietly behind a desk. Their five heads - four concealed behind a cloaking spell and one visible - looked at the display through the window. A nearby volcano was erupting, painting the landscape outside a beautiful, brilliant orange.
The serene moment ended when Lynn, the Emperor’s only detectable head, caught the sight of movement close to the lair’s entrance. A visitor had arrived: a purple spiral with light green eyes. “Hello and welcome to the Dawn Shadow Inn!” Lynn greeted cheerfully, “How can I help you?” She still sometimes struggled to say ‘I’ instead of ‘we’ - luckily, this wasn’t one of those moments.
“May I have a place to stay in for the night?” the spiral asked, landing on top of a large table.
“Sure thing!” Lynn responded.
Just then, one of her concealed companions sneezed. Oh no, she thought with dread.
The visitor’s eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost. “Is this place haunted? What just sneezed?” he asked.
“No,” Lynn replied, trying to keep her voice steady, ”I didn’t hear anything.”
He didn’t seem to believe her, but he didn’t say anything more about the incident.
Once Oriana was alone again, Lynn couldn’t help but think about Amelie and
Zodell’s warnings. “What if he had discovered us?” she thought aloud, “Maybe we shouldn’t risk this anymore.”
Her companions responded with reassuring statements, but Lynn still couldn’t help but wonder how long it would take before it was revealed that she was part of an Emperor.
