Ask not for whom the gurdy hurds. It hurds for thee. You are the Heir of Time in the Land of Staves and Sundials. You prefer the pronouns she/her and use the chumHandle doubleSampler.
> Examine interests
Your main interests lie in ALL THINGS SARTORIAL—fashion design, textile engineering, gemology, and so forth—except for capes. No capes! The latest to capture your attention are some MATHEMATICAL APPLICATIONS of the FIBER ARTS like old computer memory, hyperbolic geometries, and knot theory. Your other interests include LITHIC ANALYSIS, SONG PARODIES, and of course,
You wield BAD PUNS, but to the relief of your FAMILIAR, edo., you have allocated your strife specibus to staffKind. You have combined your STAFF with an OBSIDIAN SHARD and your favorite GREEN DRESSMAKING PIN to create your classy weapon.
It has inherited the property brittle from the OBSIDIAN SHARD. That sometimes leaves you wielding ¼staffKind—a BAD PUN. (Sorry, edo.!)
You play your handy-dandy TIMEY-WIMEY to switch between them.
> Examine offspring list
Offspring? No, they are your doomed selves, though their diverging experiences make them into their own individuals.
Time player. Comes with the territory. You try to avoid dead Tuxes, but some loops just aren't meant to be. You let yourself grieve, you let yourself mourn, and then you move on. That's all you can do, really.
> Examine land
The consorts of your land are photosynthetic verdant cats who observe the time-honoured tradition of TEA. They're drafting a system of governance for a more equitable community independent from the rule of the Denizen Lachesis, sister to Atropos (eponymous dragon) and Clotho.
The BUZZING BRIDGE looms in the distance, named for the part of the hurdy-gurdy it and TIMEY-WIMEY resemble. An enormous crack runs through the wheel. What a pity, such a hurdy-gurdy staying soundless. From this angle, the wheel obscures the keybox and the staves rising from the pegbox behind that. There rests your QUEST BED.
You'll cross that bridge when you come to it. Currently, you seek an audience with Lachesis, but she will not see you without the legendary PENELOPE'S DISTAFF. If only you could alchemize it from this NIDDY-NODDY you found...and yes, Penelope weaves the shroud, and distaves are for spinning, but I can't pass up that pun. Also, I bet high-born Greek women wove AND spun.
You make PENELOPE'S STAFF. It exudes a sense of doves thrashing against a net.
It costs a pretty penny, too. You alchemize an actual olive tree, rooted to the ground and all. For some reason, it doesn't work with just the fruit or branches.
Your progress cheers you; the staff and the prospect of using it do not. You hurry on to collect Flax Fiber. It's in the word, after all.
