Banshee
Cryptid Origins:
Her wail is legendary. Minto was a Banshee, wandering the cities and heralding death with her sorrowful lamentations. She had this job for centuries, and was starting to get a little bored. The same song, the same streets. And the job market was getting flooded, there were so many new Banshees graduating into the field. Most nights Minto could hear wails even before death was certain (these young ones were so eager to get to work!). She really didn't need much to push her into thinking about retirement, perhaps settle down in a cave by the sea. She could get more serious about her hobbies, maybe activate a dragon breed-scroll to change form, take up knitting. The plan was already half formed in her head by the time Meduxnekeag started following her career.

Meduxnekeag What was this tall dark creature, showing up in the corner of her eye? Whenever she looked directly at him, he seemed to disappear. Being an ethereal creature herself, she knew this was no trick of the light. There was someone who wasn't there, entranced by her sorrow. She welcomed the audience, after all, the whole point of her wail was for people to hear it, and she was flattered that he was such a fan. She could tell he was charmed because it was when she sang that he's be most present. She was charmed in return, and she'd pour her heart out in the hope to draw him closer. |
