Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Those words resided in the mind of a young guardian. White in colour, with cracks showcasing a vibrant blue beneath harden scale. She lived watching neither of her parents ever find their charges — something as important to a guardian as a pearl catchers own pearl.
Tyr’s parents said they were happy as they were. But the truth? They were afraid to leave their peaceful life in a cove in the Tidelord’s lands.
Which is all fine and dandy so long as they were honest in being happy, but Tyr was different.
Something drew her to the unknown.
In some cases she had a good head on her shoulders and avoided conflict. But in others she faced consequences of poorly thought out actions. Scars slashed through scale hide — cocky behavior stomped and humility learned.
Tyr did as she pleased, went where she wanted, and if anyone asked she was looking for her charge — but in truth she just didn’t like staying in one place too long. She saw what her parents became, comfortable and happy, and grew afraid she too would lose all drive.
While concern was notable, it was on the last leg of her journey did the Guardian settle for a day too long in the Fox Fire Brambles of shadow. Her eyes may have bore the Shadowbinder’s mark, she was not born in the land of tricksters.
The clan that housed here were as mismatched as they come, and it was when the dragon was leaving did she notice an pair of hissing Mirrors. and before she knew it, she was hurdling over with a growl on her tongue and a snap of teeth towards the closest dragon.
“Leave it!” words ripped from her maw and a hatchling was placed beneath her. The mirrors circled, waiting their time and shared looks between them.
After a short stand off, they realized there wasn’t a point fighting the much larger beast and backed off. Not without hissing and snarling in their leave.
Only once were the scavengers a comfortable distance did the guardian turn to the hatchling at her feet, expression a grimace as she found the tiny mirror was trying to devour her toes.
But somehow she looked on in fondness.
A pull was in the direction of the turquoise reptile, and she crouched to get closer. Her large snout nudging the child to release her toes.
“Come little one, I can get you proper chew things. You don’t know where my toes have been—“
