Padan's earliest memories are of the expanse of the Carrion Canyon: his mother, an exile, sheltering him from the storms that saturated the sand and bones in their cruel caress. He was fed on stories when there was not enough meat to spare, mostly of the dark cradle of the Tangled Woods that was his mother's birthplace, with its towering, blackened evergreens and the coliseum the dark goddess corrupted. The tale he was never told was that of his paternal parentage. It was when he came to maturity that Padan began to suspect; the power he was growing into was far beyond the lightning breath of his brethren, for he could see the essence that kept all things together, pull it apart and piece it back together if he willed. When he left home by the guardian's rite to seek his charge, Padan did so with the determination to not let himself succumb to being a monster. He is now a young traveler who avoids civilization where he can: it is by the wolf's footprints he intends to find his purpose, and perhaps that will someday lead him to the truth.

Padan's divine guide is Alastair the gale wolf, a hound as swift as the winds. He appeared to Padan in his youth, always beyond his reach, watching him with glowing green eyes that cut through the night and vanished whenever his mother came to see. Once Padan left home, Alastair came to Padan's side and let himself be named. Thus far he has guided Padan to strange and cryptic dragonfolk, though Padan can not yet figure out how these pieces all connect.
