Mushrooms are hardy things. Left to their own devices, they will grow and multiply anywhere that the dark and dank is found, and that's true even of ones that weren't originally grown in a cavern of monstrous proportion full of chaotic primordial magics.

Magic mushrooms aren't much different from their less sentient brethren: they find the cold, the dark, and the dank. And they grow...

When Her Gift flooded the mycelium and burned away the connection, they were wiped away, left bereft and forlorn, adventure far from dreams.

This was where death was supposed to come.

Death did not come.

How very Curious...

The mushrooms take root easily and spread their hyphae across the corner of the domain they had claimed, turning nutrients into fuel into shape. The magic remembers that this soul was once something more than this. The attention just makes them flourish - the colony quickly growing with thick stalks that bunch together in a strange mound that, every day, looks less like a 'mound' and more like...

Well. They were dragons once, weren't they?

The eyes that open in the fungus are strange and not-quite-dragon, and when it shakes itself loose from the network of fungus that helped give it form, it looks around, full of wonder. No amount of caution will keep this creature from exploring its surroundings - sometimes with some detriment to itself; though as it turns out, it regrows limbs easily - and there are a thousand questions it has about how Sornieth is and what things are like. There is so much that looks new, it tells you, delight in its voice. I want to learn everything.
