Biography
Loki Chiaroscuro
Weaver, Artisans' Guild
Weaver, Artisans' Guild
Calm, collected, and with a wicked smile, Loki may not be the power-hungry maniac his namesake is, but there is no doubting he has a mischievous streak a mile wide. His serious demeanor is merely a front.
Being Loki Lokison, one among four siblings and thousands of similarly-named dragons across Sorneith, and the smallest imperial in the entire lair certainly does a number on your psyche. His narcissistic and uncaring act is merely a front to hide his fragile ego and rampant self-doubt. Despite his potent thirst to prove himself, Loki doesn't seem to be bent on world domination - at least, not yet. Sure, he'll ride the Corrupted Uprising's coattails to success, but he's more than content to just sit in the background and grin evilly. Or at least as menacingly as he can. It's hard when Magneto dwarfs you by over 10 meters! Seriously, what does that overgrown lightning bug do with all that length?
Loki has the reputation of being one of the laziest dragons in the entire clan, as he refuses to perform any task liable to get his claws dirty. His shirking was rivaled only by Vaati, the Wind Sorcerer. While Loki initially acted aloof and disdainful towards the other dragon, the Skydancer eventually wormed his way past the Imperial's defenses and into his heart. To the clan's great despair, the two dragons became nigh inseparable, and are known for causing 90% of the harmless chaos through the lair.
Perhaps inevitably, Loki and Vaati have matured (slightly) and taken on various responsibilities over the years. Vaati now leads a black wolf pack he raised by hand, and spends a lot of time ranging across the Sorneith countryside on hunting trips. Inspired by the ancient stories of Freya, the original Loki's mother, the Imperial took up weaving to occupy himself while his partner was gone. Many dragons were surprised at this choice, but no one could deny it was a far sight better than having a grumpy and forlorn Imperial stomping around the castle, darkening the halls with illusory shadows. When Loki and Vaati are both on the island together, they tend to spend an inordinate amount of time hanging around Rosen's coffeehouse and planning their next
Hecate dive-bombed into the clan as a gift from Clan Cyans and promptly adopted Vaati and Loki as her fathers, accidentally forcing their relationship to go public. They exchanged pieces of teardrop citrine jewelry as promise tokens, and took the last name Chiaroscuro. While the Nocturne looks nothing like either of her fathers, Loki is more than pleased to help her pick out the most opulent of matching apparel. He maintains there is nothing more annoying than being a cat person when your husband and daughter are wolf people (although truthfully Hecate likes both).
Rumor has it him and Vaati are also quite handy at performing heists, though all such accusations are fervently denied. Someone, however, had to break into the vault to "liberate" the funds for the great gene outbreak.
One of these days, we're going to get him a Golden Porpoise (just for the puns! which he and TECHIEWAIL are unnaturally fond of).
