Nichol

The Spectrum’s leader’s right hand, she met the leader when they landed in the town of Gales before the rebel group even existed. Nichol remembers them walking in the bar, cut and bruised. She wanted to make some friendly talk with them, hoping that they might feel better.

”Ah, a traveler! Where are you from?”

”It doesn’t-cough- really matter.”

Nichol recoiled slightly when they talked. The voice was whispery, low and throaty, damaged. The traveler looked up at her with a smirk. That’s when she noticed the cut at their throat. It must’ve damaged their voicebox.

”Yeah, I had to get used to my voice-cough-as well, it’s quite odd.”

”No, it’s alright. What brings you to Gales, young traveler?”

”A route to my escape, if you’d like to know.”

That was concerning. Is she talking to a criminal?

”Why are you running?”

”Mo- the royals are after my head.”

The dragon looked miserable as they said those words. Nichol felt a strange feeling emerge. She looked at them with sympathy.

”What are you planning to do after escaping?”

The dragon’s eyes seemed to light up and ignite into a fervent flame.

”This may sound crazy, no, it is crazy, but-cough-I’m going to start a rebellion group against the royals, and we are going to destroy their reign.”

Okay, the traveler she was talking to was not only odd, they were insane!

"But, why? That's insane."

The dragon seemed to sigh a bit, before pointing at themselves.

"These injuries are because of them. They-cough-also enjoy executing innocent civilians for sport. Doesn't that disgust anyone?"
