She wasn't from this clan originally. A gift, she says, from a friend, and ignores how it makes the outworlders shudder.
If they knew the truth, they would have more reason to shudder than this, but they weren't here when she came.
The clan was Arcane, then. It still traded in its own children, for that particular practice was an innovation that predated her, but it made its home in the Starwood Strand of its leader Apeirou's birth, and it seemed they would never have cause to leave.
But then she arrived. It was as a gift from a friend; that part isn't a lie. It's just that the clan wasn't the one receiving it.
Nine days after the gift, Apeirou's clan left Arcane territory, never to return.
