The Shifting Expanse is no different. The landscape is barren and treacherous; the Stormcatcher presides not over a culture, but a corporation, and not people, but employees. Imagine, if you will, a place where profit is the only motive, where rest is a distant memory, where war is broadcast across every channel and treated as a necessity, where the wants of the few supersede the needs of the many, and you'll have the general idea.

In a world of magic and madness, if all this is happening with the Stormcatcher's implicit blessing, then what atrocities are going on behind his back?
