A paintbrush held by delicate fingers, paused just above the rough canvas.
Paint splatters adorned the floor in a chaos only the artist could understand.
Sure it was messy, but it was better that way.
It always lended a bit more life to the studio and taught the painter that not everything is meant to be perfect, and that there is beauty in chaos.
The artist scrutinized the landscape before him, taking in every last detail, every last color.
Something was wrong.
Had that boulder always been there?
He couldn’t remember.
That’s what they all said to him, things he was sure he had misplaced and later found were always in the same spot.
Brushes out of their place, paints splattered carelessly on the floor, things that were most definitely not where he had left them.
The thoughts fled his mind when he peered back at his canvas.
The shadow behind the tree was most definitely not there when he last looked.
But it was there now.
