Flurry arranged himself in the typical Gaolerian guard formation outside the temple door. The rising sun spilled pale shades of pink and yellow across his shaggy fur. He counted slowly under his breath, "Three, two one-"
Right on cue, Reina stepped through the door, inhaled the cool morning air, and nearly fell over in fright when she saw Flurry standing behind her.
"Flurry!" She yelped. "What on Sorienth are you doing?"
"G'mornin, missus," The gaoler dipped his head in a thoughtful moment of respect. "Just wanted'ta make sure your morning walk is safe. Never know what's out there, ya know?" He waved a wing in the general direction of the ocean.
"Flurry," Reina said, both patient and affectionately exasperated. "You and I both know I'll be entirely safe."
"Just in case," Flurry insisted.
"Fine." Reina receded with a smile. "Thank you."

A gaoler with the spirit of a guardian, Flurry is incredibly protective of those he deems his charge. Albeit a little old-fashioned with his methods of guarding, he is well-meaning and rather good at his job, which is why Alvon lets him continue what he does without argument.
Personality


Flurry is rugged and serious, but he can also be very sweet and gentle with more fragile charges, especially hatchlings, though he retains aspects of his rough personality. He also has rare flashes of humor and will occasionally enjoy cracking jokes.
