Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this little researcher wandered a little too far from his home lair (Akeovelora #477999), and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could instead just return him home, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you don't want another dragon in return, you can also drop him off at the rest hub.

I've decided to leave my home clan to travel the world, to see new familiars and make new friends! Nyx has decided to come with me, and I hope we can have many adventures together! I really want to fill up my journal with memories.

Dustfeather Sphinx
Nyx

I had to sign a logbook just to gain access to this large clan in the Tangled Wood, but once I got in, it was quite nice. Nyx and I spent a good while here, and I made two new friends: the innkeeper, Axel, and a fellow traveller, Chyddri.

When Nyx and I decided to move on, Chyddri decided to join us!
Chyddri, Nyx, and I continued to travel together, but over time... the Spiral became distant with me. In the evenings, I'd often overhear him mumbling something about needing answers, but when I offered my help he only seemed to grow more frustrated.

I was beginning to tire of our constant travelling, but he pushed on like it was nothing - like he didn't need to take breaks at all! In the end, we decided it would be for the best if we went our separate ways.

I wished him well and made my way to the rest hub. I'll take some time to recuperate there.
I spent a couple of months at the rest hub, but after such a long time wandering, it was nice to rest my wings in comfort. Plus, there were so many friendly dragons there. But eventually I decided to move on.

I came upon a clan in Wispwillow Grove... or rather, a loosely connected group of dragons; this "clan" was made up of couples and small families who mostly kept to themselves and the odd dragon who had nowhere else to go.

I mostly stayed with the wanderers, but I did meet a lovely Tundra named Ranae. She was charming and made my weeks in her clan quite enjoyable. We had a nest together!

But... apparently, it wasn't meant to be. Ranae abruptly decided that she was meant for a higher purpose: to serve the gods. I don't know what caused this sudden decision, but she left in the middle of the night, leaving a note as her only explanation. According to the neighbors, she went deep into the forest, taking our hatchlings with her...

To say I was distraught would be an understatement. I went in search of them and found nothing. Unsure of what to do with myself, I finally decided to leave... at least Nyx has remained by my side.
Woe! Woe is me. Nyx and I were attacked in the skies and she was taken from me. Wounded, I ended up seeking shelter at the Sunbeam Lanternhouse, but its residents' hospitality seemed hollow to me: they could not overtake the bandits who had attacked us. Nyx is forever lost to me.

I stayed in my room, grieving, but Nerva insisted on interrupting my sorrow to treat my wounds. I had no interest in letting a Plague dragon tend me. Over his protests, I left.
Flying. Just stretching my wings and flying, ever onward. Tears obstructed my vision, but I did not care. It was kind of a relief to fly until my muscles ached and just letting the memories flow with the tears. Ranae. Our hatchlings. Nyx. So much sorrow, so much sadness, not enough hours in a day to cry all the tears that deserved to be spilled.
There were joyful memories in there, too. Hunting and playing with Nyx. Romantic hours with Ranae. The first wobbly steps of our wee ones. But all tinted with sadness and sorrow now, almost unbearable to look at.
The wounds on my body from the bandit attack did not take kindly to the long flight as well, but at this point, I hardly cared. I just flew on as long and far as I could, trying to outrun my own thoughts and feelings. Finally, I gave in to my exhaustion, midflight, not caring where - or if - there would be an awakening.

But alas, I am telling this story. So, as you probanly already guessed, I woke again. Something furry and warm was cuddled to my side, the smell of flowers, wet earth and fresh water was in the air, and I felt a very welcome calmness. The grief was still there, but somehow distant. Slowly, I opened my eyes and lifted my head to take in my surroundings. The lair of the Refugess, as this very hospitable lair calls themselves, was - something different. The warm furry being was a Spring Sphinx called Syria, as I learned later, and two of their - healers? - had administerd soothing teas to me while I slept. Calmante and Aurora, two very friendly dragons, spent hours on end talking with me, and sharing their fascinating herbal teas and infusions - and the grief got more bearable.

As nice as it was and as much as I enjoyed my stay and recovery, I did not want to overstay my welcome, and after a few weeks, decided to continue on my travels, ever hoping to maybe find my Nyx again...
