Where mortal dragons may have been raised with affection and empathy, this dragon was not so much raised as he was shaped into a tool with a specific purpose. He knew this purpose from a young age, learning as a hatchling how to best use his silver tongue and honeyed words to tempt mortals to stray from light into the darkness. Although he takes no delight in this purpose, it is all he has ever known, and is so tied to his sense of identity that he took the name Temptation for himself -- defining himself solely by his purpose.

When he crossed paths with Aletheia, she was a thorn in his side like no other. Her gentle words and ineffable positivity drove him positively mad, and try as he might, he could not dissuade her from her quiet insistence that there was good in him. There was no good inside him; he was a product of darkness and brimstone, the grandson of the Beast -- he had no need for the light that Aletheia carried with her, for her insistence that all anyone needed was a chance.

He would deny it if anyone suggested he found Aletheia’s persistence endearing. He would deny it if anyone pointed out the faint smile on his lips whenever he turned away from her. He would deny it if anyone suggested he was falling for her. He would deny it if anyone pointed out that perhaps there was good in him.

...but he would be lying every time.
